Assignable midi control?

I apologize if this has been answered before.
Can I map the midi control on the 57 to other software. Say Virtual DJ?

The 57 doesn't use midi control, it is using its own proprietary protocol to talk to SSL. So I'm afraid the answer is no, not at the moment. However it is something that could be added at a later stage through some sort of driver update.

I've played around with the TTM57 with Virtual DJ in internal mode but can't get it to work with the VDJ control vinyl.
Has anyone tried it with vinyl?

It won't work due to a limitation in the ASIO drivers. The record input can only sample the input as set on the input selector switch on the mixer.
For VirtualDJ to hear the control signal this would need to be set to A1-4 but then you won't be able to hear the output from VirtualDJ.

I bought some video files at the DJ show in AC last week.
VDJ is the only program that will play them.

SL is much better than VirtualDj!
I know Serato is way better but until 1.8 comes out I'm going to be using VDJ. VDJ is a decent program that gets the job done for DJing music videos.
But it is like going from Nike to Reebok.

I hope that Serato 1.8 will be better.
I spent some time in the Rane booth in Atlantic City and it looked like they were having trouble with it.

Don't forget what you see in the booth is most likely a very early version, Serato won't release it until it's ready.

I'm curious... what midi problems did it look like we were having? I was the one there using midi and had no problems with it at all.

Hey Wiz,
I met you there.
The midi was working great.
It seems like you were having problems with the video plug.

ok... I though you were talking about the midi. the first day, we had an the wrong vid plug in... worked it out and it was fine the second day... the 3rd day we had a few problems getting the projector running right... once we did, the video was pretty good. there are a few things they are still working out but considering that it is still in the ALPHA phase and not even ready for beta yet, I think it worked amazingly. From what I've seen so far, i think it's gonna be well worth the wait.

It will be, but as always, it will probably be a struggle to get all the club owners to spend some money placing projectors and screens around the club...
I bought the Technic cd players, but scratching with them is still not as cool as with vinyl. However, vinyl control doesn't make sense for most of my gigs because the needle can still bounce. I bought the Vestax VCI-100, but even those jog wheels are too small and stiff. I can't wait for the first super high-tech / high quality midi controller that simulates scratching with vinyl better than any of the alternatives we have right now. Then manipulating mp3z will be even more fun & creative.

just started learning max MSP and i'd like to be able to use TTM 57SL and the control vinyl as controllers for patches, i know Ms Pinky control vinyls are used with max MSP, however they don't have the mixer yet... this would be really a cool way to make music. Given that TTM 57SL doesn't do midi yet (i think?), is it still possible to use it with maxmsp?

Correct.
Nope. The routing functions of the TTM57 do no allow the usage of other DVS software. A pitty.
