The club I work at on a Saturday has a pioneer djm 800 and I want to midi map the faders to video
I have a midi to usb cable which lights up but I can get the mixer to map to serato

I havent had time to experiment as I dont have a djm 800 at home but before I return on Saturday could anyone give some advice?

I am running the dicers via a hub and the djm800 will also go in to this.
Is it a problem running 2 different midi devices?

Anyone encountered this prob or could it be a problem with the mixer, my cable etc. I currently just use the arrow keys on the keyboard to mix between vids

Cheers

You may need to connect the USB to MIDI adapter directly to the Mac and not hub.

Definitely try mapping the 800 while the Dicers are disconnected, just in case :)

Will give it a go.
My problem being is that as I use a 13" MBP i only have 2 usb ports
1 is for the sl3 and then my video output converter is usb powered, and i ideally want the mixer mapped and the dicers.

So as the sl3 uses one i only have 1 left and want 3 items plugged in to it

At least if i try mapping the mixer I will know what the problem is if it works and I will just go back to using the curser keys

If the 800 maps when directly connected to the computer, a different USB hub may be the fix :)

This is the same setup I use, except with a 15in. You can run both the 800 and Dicers through a single hub. This is the hub I use -->www.officedepot.com and it seems to work pretty well.
As Shaun said though, do your midi mapping on the 800 with the Dicers off.

Cheers Carter

Im using a powered Belkin hub so should be fine then.
So just to confirm as in the dicer manual it says to connect the dicers then start SL. Can I map the faders, then close SL, plug in the dicers, restart SL and hopefully i could be working

Certain hubs, powered or not, sometimes (for whatever reason) don't properly work when used with multiple MIDI devices. If you continue to experience the issue, definitely try a different hub :)

Cheers Sean will keep that in Mind

As an additional question My Friday residency have just upgraded to the DJM900 nexus (from a mixer that didnt have midi). Should i be ok to midi map the faders from that just using the usb out from the mixer or would you recommend using the midi out port with a midi to usb cable. I wont get to try it until Friday and Im always running late to that gig!!

Sorry that im moving away from the original question and Serato's remit

I would go with the USB out option over the MIDI to USB adapter scenario.
