Serato Software Feature Suggestions

What features would you like to see in Serato software?

Ability to place cue point before start of track.

Currently in Serato you can't set a cue point before the start of the mp3 file. It seems you are able to wind the vinyl backwards into the area with no waveform, but it's not possible to set a cue point there.

This would be useful for setting cue points for tunes which have have an irregular start point. For example where there is a bar or two intro before the first down beat, or a vocal etc.

It would mean you could set a cue point 4 or 8 beats before the first downbeat for use when cueing. This could be easily set up by beatmatching/loading the same track in the other deck, then using trial and error to set the correct point.

After that, you'd have a nice mix-friendly tune.

This beats using an editing program to add some beats to to the start of the track as suggested in other threads here since it doesn't require transcoding from mp3->wav->mp3. I'm sure this cue point could be set a lot faster than the "editing" method too.

Makes sense. How would you deal with tracks which are repeated completely?

I guess Serato would need be programmed to ignore cuepoints outside the wave form when in 'repeat mode.'

Same issue for "Auto Play" where Serato currently goes to the previous track if you cue past the start of the waveform. I never use auto-play, so maybe I'm missing something - but I always thought this behavior was of no use.

Hopefully this will be easy to implement.

maybe this would work: get in rel mode with auto play unclicked and have your track start offset set to 1 min. drop down the needle at the 1 min groove and then rewind the record into the negatives and then place your cue. I cant test this out right now but gl

No, I'm afraid winding back isn't the problem. You can wind back into empty space, then let go and that space will "play". But you can't currently set a cue point there. thanks for the thought though.
