I got this idea from playing with cdj's and how their cue points are set up. You can set different cue points such as:
1-bass drum ,
2-snare drum,
3- sound effect , etc..
You can basically use the cue points like a simple drum machine. (using the keyboard, of course) I started playing around with SL's cues making little mpc-style rhythms with the cue points and i've even made some really cool beats and loops (used in production)....
Now here's my suggestions.. take this concept just a little bit further.
1. Make an auto-fade on the cue points to where if you are switching from cue point to cue point during playback, you don't get a "pop" or "click" when it cuts the audio. That would sound "pro" whenever you get the balls to make your own breakdowns with the cues.
2. Allow for the cues to be set up as "triggered". By this I mean, when you switch to trigger mode, you can hold down the cue and it will only play as long as you have the key pressed. that way you can trick out the cue points and make little bits of silence in between hits. (basically, as mentioned in other areas, "more cue/loop features")
I know I'm asking for a feature that most users would not take advantage of, but maybe if live sampling and hip hop composition are your bag... it could add some keyboard flare while you're on the pc.
Just imagine.... on the left you have a song playing, and on the right you have a pre-cue-pointed track and you have a little routine where you are ffreeaking some sounds using your keyboard. Then, proceed to scratching/mixing/dropping the track?!
Rate this suggestion... hot or not? ;)
