Full Screen Crate Organization

Sometimes I am playing with my crates without the SL hardware plugged in. Half the screen says 'Interface Disconnected.' I'd like to be able to just organize my tracks in full screen.

Same as X-trodinaire. An option to squeeze the entire upper thing to only the name, and song position (time-indication is good enuff e.g. 0:03:35/0:06:13) would be awesome. esepecially when playing music that I don't play often, more tracks being displayed would make scrolling easier/faster.

me too, when the sl box is unplugged there should be an option to double up the crates list

absolutely agree here, and we should be able to use internal mode without the interface since i use serato as my audio player also, since its where all my music is organised.

But i can understand serato not to spread SSL as free audio player, since it is downloadable for free...

If you own a mac, this has been covered in Tips & Tricks:
scratchlive.net
If you don't own a mac, you should consider one. (jk - sort of - ::pc ups::)
Actually, I think someone else covered this for the Windows magnifier, too. But a search would, of course, provide that info.

P.S.: Doesn't increase the scrolling space, but does blow things up quite nicely.

Yeah but the crates aren't visible. This feature suggestion is for "FULL SCREEN CRATE ORGANIZATION"

Sorry Sojourn, but I don't think that that solution is much of a help to me. Full screen organazition would mean that the non-used space will be taken up by the tracklist/cratelist, so you can display MORE tracks at once on your screen. This would help to have a better overview while organizing. (just turn the non-used into something useful).
By using the magnifying function of my Macbook, I would just have all the tracknames BIGGER... not MORE. I would like more names to be displayed. (And like Ultimate said, the crates fall off your screen by magnifying)
In addition to that, enabling some internal player would help, not even the full internal mode, just 1 deck, no pitchcontrol, very basic, something that would just enable you to listen to you songs. Hell, for all I care they could couple it to an external player, have quicktime or itunes or winamp or any device of your choice play the song when you double-click one...?

Yeah, I hear ya. Definitely just a "get-by" situation till a good feature-addition is made to a future version.
Sorry, shouldn't really have said "covered" as it seems to mean "put to bed" more than the "get-by" I intended.
I'm looking for this feature, too, and for the same reasons (more rows, efficient use of space, etc.) but will keep getting by with the magnifier, for now. (Have to admit, it DOES work pretty well for magnifying the waveform.)

That you don't know. The company where I work, we develop video processing equipment remote controlled by another PC using a GUI (or DI or SNMP). This year we changed the GUI communication from java based to XML-based, and it was no joke, porting the entire thing. But it's so much better, more efficient, flexible, and so on.
If there are enough advantages to it, and the company feels that the need is big enough, they will change. And you can't say that Serato is a company that 'sticks to what they know :o).
It's just up to them to decide if the benefits are valuable enough.

isn't a program more stable by not doing xml?
so i was right then....because with the current config of serato this is not possible. u have to port the whole program which is basically building it all over again.
do u know how to make custom programs for joysticks etc? i have some ideas i would love to do but don't have the software knowledge. shit u could probaly do a side business making controllers for djs.

Nope, sorry dude. I'm not a programmer, but a test engineer. I see if the software matches the specs, looking for bugs and abusing it over and over again to see if the system keeps running stable. So unfortunately I don't have much experience with the code. Hope to have more knowledge some day though :o)
