Better control CUE with CD players

DJ 2ni 5:46 AM - 3 May, 2007
better Control with CD player (CDJ 1000):

I'm french, so excuse me for my english not good...!

I'm using SRATO with 2 CDJ-1000-Mk3.

Here is my Probleme

The CUE point of the CD player can be use in SERATO like a CD in "absolu" mode but not mémorise in this mode.

if you memorise one CUE point in SERATO (in "relative" mode), you can't use the CUE of the CD player to play from the CUE point start of the SERATO CUE point witch is mémorise in SERATO....because you are in "relative" mode and in this mode, the CUE point of the player make you go from the begining of the song.

I don't know if you understand me, but I try to tell you my Probleme with my bad english , I'm sorry...!

That is not a problem that need to be fixed, that is the way that supposed to work.
Konix 2:57 PM - 4 May, 2007
Correct Rocky. You got to understand DJ 2ni that Relative mode does not track the position on the CD, only speed and direction.
DJ 2ni 10:49 PM - 4 May, 2007
so I can't use the CUE mémory of SERATO with my CDJ-1000 ?
DJ 2ni 10:56 PM - 4 May, 2007
I perfectly understand what is "relative" mode, but how can I do to remember the CUE mémorise in SERATO when I push the CUE of my CD Player ?

Did you try to play whith CD player on SERATO ? try it, please..! you will unterstand me...!

DJ 2ni 11:43 PM - 5 May, 2007
I know I can't use memory of CDJ...!

I want to know how can I do to mémorise and remember the CUE on SERATO and using the CUE of CDJ to go back to this mémo of SERATO....! do you enderstand me (excuse me but I'm frenchy and my english is not enough good to tell you my probleme clearly)

Good night every body..!

i understood you the 3rd time ;)

there is no way, sorry.

just learn the SERATO Cue and keyboard
Dj Rocky 9:09 PM - 6 May, 2007
2ni, I know what your question is now. Yes you can use the cue points of the cdj, but you need to set hundreds of cues from the same cd. If I was you, I would use the comment column and write the cue point Number on each song. That is the only way you can remember I believe.

Hey Guys I'm new to Serato. Just tried it with my CD player and yup I found the same thing DJ 2ni said. I found however it did the same thing in ABS as in REL modes. When you hit play on the CD player, the MP3 plays on Scratch Live. That part works fine. If you hit CUE, it doesn't go back to the beginning or set cue point, it just pauses the MP3.

If at least in ABS mode, it tracked the exact time position on the MP3 with the CD Deck, than that would alleviate having to use both the Keyboard and CD Player just to cue up a track.

Does the Scratch Live actually follow the time on the disc or is the reason more of a technological challenge because when you cue, no sound is going into the Scratchlive box so it pauses the MP3 thinking that it has stopped?

I'd still like to se if there is a way add this feature but I can see how it could potentially be dangerous if it doesn't follow the exact placement of the time code disc in the CD player.

That means you have to edit each and every song to have the exact or no space at the beginning of the music.

Serato was made to mimic a record vynil.
When you drop the needle somewhere in the beginning you still have silence before the beat (or first sound)

what you two are asking for, I think is Auto Cue.

Can you make a video of what it is doing?

I have the cdj 800s and so far it working as it should for me

In a CDJ when you cue up your track and hit play and you hit cue again the track returns to it's cue point. In SSL it does not using your CDJ.
Konix 4:39 PM - 11 May, 2007
Sure it does, but only in Absolute mode. And you have to hit the Cue button a little longer since there's that few milliseconds delay before it updates the position.
Javier drada 5:03 PM - 11 May, 2007
I have it in Abosulte mode, but I will try it by hitting the Cue a little longer and see if it works.

Thanks...

Hello.

On SET UP, if the "start on first cue point" is ON, you start on first CUE point with the CD-Player if you're in REL mode, but not in ABS mode.
But in REL mode you can't go back to the CUE point whith the CD-Player (after searching the pitch for mixing).

So I say that for the moment, SSL is not used like a CD-Audio with CD-Players, it need a 4th mode able to go back to the CUE point (like in ABS) but able to play from 1st CUE point (like in REL)

Thanks the the SERATO-TEAM to make my dream come true....!
