true that, but on a hilarious note, i was on there this morning looking at the gig pics, there is a girl here who is always posting on craigslist looking for a freejay for her business parties that she puts on for her "clients", and i was going though the pics she put up there and found that dj on the forums... hes going hate me but i was like, um? were those pics from the gig from that girl on craigslist keeps asking for a freejay?????

I think it's gone for good. It's been having problems going down all the time, but now it's been over a month and I was told it was done for good

I thought that was a great DJ website (the best overall really)... I got tired of it crashing though.

Dj forums is very shitty, I hated that forums nothing but haters! And oh the neg rep shit was fucking lame! So good for them losers that had more stars that makes them a better dj

Maybe serato users will go here, traktor to their website, virtual dj on their site then they will all troll each others forums.

The forum has had some ridiculous issues with its host. The host managed to delete info off of both servers (including the back up) due to some wrong paperwork. Before this, a lot of the downtime was a matter of the host doing maintenance on the networks, not telling the owners and then taking up to a week to fix the issue. This was not a problem because of DJF, it was mostly the host being incredibly incompetent.

The admins are currently working on rebuilding the the website, adding new features, trying to find an old copy of the database, finding a new host that wont be so incompetent and wont fuck over DJF.

And I'd let to get out of the way that DJF was such a large website that they couldn't just migrate the entire database in a very quick time. They also have lives (kids, jobs, moving across the country, etc.) outside of the website, so they couldn't be working on it 24/7.


I'm willing to bet there was a reason you received neg rep. I'm also willing to bet that it's because you said something. Even though the neg rep can be abused on DJF; 80% of the time, there was a good reason most people received neg rep.

Oh yeah, most of us DJF members are in a small Facebook group. I think there will eventually be an official Facebook page.

im willing to bet DCD is a djf moderator or something. that negative rep shit was for kids which most on that site were. it did have some good for sale adds. but the dj's on there thought they were tiesto or jazzy jeff or someone. they knew it all. lmao

I wish I were a moderator. :( I never got that idea though. Most of the users would talk down anyone who boasted their ego on that site.

DJF did get worse over the years....but to suggest that there was not a ton of DJ knowledge over there just means you didnt spend any real time there.

Never argued the knowledge factor, tons on modding cases and fixing hardware as well as software, but a large number of users were trolls on there...

A larger number of users =more trolls, hopefully they reopen it and start from scratch.

there are plenty of trolls here as well.....so based on that criteria, not sure how you can say DJF is "sucked" but this one is worthwhile.

This type of shitis why dj forums sucked back and forth bantering about opinions that really dont matter, dj forum users dont car if i think it a troll cave and i dont care for useless information about a numark controller not syncing correctly....like i said i did use djf it just got shitty and then dissapeared. And again hopefully they start it again with 0 threads. A fresh start.

And yea there is a few trolls on here but its a close knit Serato/rane forum you know who is a troll and who isnt.

The music genre subforums were a million miles better than anything else I've found on the net. Found so many great tracks through there.

Classifieds were good too.

The equipment forums were generally a waste of time, except the mods forum.

All in all, I'll be glad when it's back.

I really liked DJForums... the look, the mix forums and especially the DJ Gear forums. The website's reliability was truly in the toilet though. Thus the reason they are down. I was thinking www.djsyndicate.net would fill in nicely but it's taking a while to grab footing.

All jokes aside Groove, forums in general have become less helpfull in the last year or two, i frequent mtbr.com forums and the info is great forum structure is great but its the same thing alot of trolls or unhelpfulls, Dj tech tools users for example hate and bash when editors postup something not mapping related. Its all good bro no hard feelings. Just another thread. The best forums are local forums for example fatsinthecats.com forum, more of a local club forum but you meet the people behind the avatar.

I liked the look and feel of the site, but all the bedroom knob twisters got old.... there were only a handful of peeps that played out... and didn't play out at dive bars with their led tbar light setup...

They don't have DJJOHNNYM, Thundercat, Dazz, Mr. Smizz, Deez, REAL MODS, and a host of others that would make you tune in everyday to catch the latest antics!

I am as Hard headed & Stubborn you can combined em!!, but truthfully if you can ignore & pass up the trolls & condescending individuals then you can learn a whole great deal from various DJForums members. I myself will admit coming back from retirement 2006-7 I learn a whole great deal from that website I am hopeful this new site will carry the respect I have for many of its members...

You're right. DJForums sucked because they weren't bantering about 'Real DJ's and 'Paying your dues'. Helping out others that didn't use turntables is really stupid. Also, you're reminding me of the fact that there were DJs on DJF that weren't Hip Hop DJs. Can you believe that? So many non-DJs on that site. Gosh.

First i was kidding about the numark thing vs real turntables......and the hip hop djs being real compared to edm djs...i spin edm and i use midi controllers and turntables and have used cds. And as far as paying your dues that doesnt exist anymore, its about who u know and who undercuts you. I just simply said the large amount of users lead to pointless posts all over that forum..... That is all, i said it before the structure was awesome the large amount of trolls made it shitty, for me.

You can also see on this forum a large number of users are biased towards serato and hate traktor or use Rane mixers so pioneers suck ect ect. Basically you liked djf before it went away i didnt, i was on that site hours at a time just reading shit for the info a while back, it got shitty and i didnt like it anymore. I am willing to give it another chance and wll be checking it out from time to time.

I'm in agreement to most of the responses given here, but would like to add that I wish there wasnt so much hostility toward the different types of dj programs being used. I'm as Old School as you can probably get and have been researching this "virtual" dj world very intensely. In fact I own 3 (including Serato) different brands of dj programs and find both FAULT and UNIQUENESS in ALL of them. So far I feel that Serato has been more FAVORABLE for me because I'm strictly a vinyl dj and Serato gives me the BEST FEEL for what I do. But there are instances in which I still use the other two and have no problem doing so.

dj forums used to be good. i re-registered with hope of it maybe improving. what sucked about it is it needed some more organizations. it seemed like the majority of the posts were: i'm new to djing...i only have 250 dollars to spend...what should i get? (or some other question along that line) and then someone else would brag how they can rock a party with their 100 dollar vestax controller and how great their 200 dollar behringer speakers sounded. and then those turned into real vs fake dj debates. after a while i usually just stuck to the classified area and music areas. i got some killer deals and some great tunes.
