decimal place of the BPM in standard view
What features would you like to see in Serato software?
decimal place of the BPM in standard view

I would like to see the decimal place of the BPM in the standart view. I can only see it when I switch to another view.
I think the decimal place of the BPM ist very importand, especially when doing long-run-mixes or mash ups!
Who else would like to have this feature?

big +1. Played with Traktor this weekend for the first time, was a noticeable difference btw the two (this is coming from someone who's been using Serato for a few yrs now).

Could we get a response from someone at Serato on this?
2 decimal places is enabled on one view but not on the primary views.
I saw on a different thread someone from Serato respond that it's a substantial coding effort for Serato to add it to the other GUI's.
As a technologist, I'm going to have to call BS on that -- it certainly seems that enough users are asking for this on multiple threads that the product developers may want to listen a bit more closely and bump that up in the planning process. If you've got the display coding running and pulling up to one GUI, that means the 'proof of concept' of the work is already done.
I am seriously considering a switch to Traktor because of this...and I'm a long-term Serato user. Not so much because of the functionality but more because you guys don't seem to listen to numerous customer issues around what should be a low-hanging fruit fix.
Pls fwd this msg to your product development folks, I was hoping this would be addressed in 2.2 but apparently not, you've focused more on other minor GUI changes.
If we as loyal consumers of your product can get an idea of when we can expect this simple tweak - to all interfaces - I'm sure it'd go a long way towards showing how proactive you guys are in meeting your user needs, rather than focusing on minor bug fixes and hardware compatibility.
The latter may make more new money -- but we're hoping you can focus on keeping existing customers happy as well. Thanks!

-1 Learn to beat match guys. It always surprises me the amount of people that need to use BPM counters to mix. I cant remember the last time I looked at a beat counter. When making the digital switch I chose traktor over Serato because you are able to switch off all the visual aids. Mixing by ear is a lot better and more rewarding than by eye.
You should all really start to listen more to the music that you are playing

Just because you like the BPM counter doesn't mean you don't know how to beat match, sorry that's a fallacy. Based on what you are saying Liam, you should be arguing for Serato to lose the BMP readout entirely - is that what you're asking for? I still try to play on vinyl every chance I get -- but when I play out and there's no monitoring capabilities, or there mixer is shitty and I can't cue up or fade in my headphones...then in those situations, absolutely hell yes I'd appreciate the extra bpm counter, it'll help when I go straight out into main sound unit. But only in those situations.
From a usability standpoint, a visual aid does not predicate or absolve you of the capacity or the ability to mix however you want.
Rane realizes this by including this decimal in their GUI on some of their views! It's just somewhat crazy that they enable it on one view but not all and then blame that on technical coding. That is BS.
The point is not how to DJ, that's a personal preference set - the point is that Rane is not listening to its users who are asking for a product feature -- when their primary competitor absolutely is listening to their users. I want to give my money to companies that listen to what I say, not to companies that ignore what I and many others ask for.
See above and other threads for just how many users are asking for this simple tweak to the GUI. You are in the minority.

Also, I totally agree with you on thing Liam - the fact that Traktor lets you turn GUI cues on and off is great -- that would be absolutely ideal.
But the fact that Serato won't let its users make that decision for themselves,...and makes that decision for them, is a bit bogus in my eyes.
The dev team here obviously cares a lot about making their product as great as possible. That's why they have so many releases. It's just been bothering me a bit that many of the releases seem to be focused on product upgrades that people aren't actually asking for, like minor library tweaks. Either that or plugins to new hardware (which makes Rane more money).
I just wish they'd listen to some of the basic things customers are asking for too -- simple stuff like this, like being to use hot-keys to jump to saved loops (another feature request I submitted a while back). Oh well. /soapbox.

I made several topics years ago asking for this but nothing ever came of it. For that reason I chose Traktor.

If a club doesn't have monitor then its not a club worth DJing in.

Hi Liam,
The worthiness of club setups has no bearing on Serato's product feature set. It has more to do with people trying to make a living when believe it or not, sometimes setups aren't ideal. I'm happy for you that you have that choice of being selective.
If customers (other than you) want a feature prioritized, hopefully Rane can listen in and take care of it.
You're lucky with Traktor in that you can turn the feature on or off depending on what you want to do. All we're really asking for is the same choice available in the Rane products.
While I appreciate the 'purity' of your thought, you don't represent everyone. As clearly evidenced by this thread.

It seems like an easy fix, right? There is decimal support for BPM on one view....but for some reason other features (like loop views) are disabled. I don't understand why there are 4 different views available, but all of them are missing some information.
And as for the comments about learning to beatmatch, they seem irrelevant and needlessly malicious. I certainly know how to beatmatch but I also want a clean and useful interface - sometimes I want more accurate BPM information and it is dumb to have to change views just to see it.....then back again to do things like looping.
I would think this would be a relatively simple fix, since obviously Serato is already aware of the information; it's just a matter of adding it to the other display views.
Thanks!

Definitely! Seems like such an easy feature to add and there's no point in displaying BPM unless it's accurate!

-1 i don't want this i'de use the library mode alot more if it didn't have the decimal places on it. as i like it much more without the waveforms.
or put them on the main screen and take them off library mode so all the wavies can stare at the waveforms and move the pitch untill the numbers match.....rather than doing it properly by ear

I suggest BPM one decimal display option in setup, so if you mark it in setup on all serato screen views BPM will be shown with one decimal, if it's not marked than BPM will be normal without decimal

+1 after transitioning to scratch live from serato DJ this feels super dated. that and the lack of native beatgrid support without ableton.

First off, lets stay on topic. Yes, 100% of your users are asking for this feature, and quite consistently, then it should probably be a big consideration. Also I completely agree personally that it needs to be added, if it's on one view, why not all. It seems pretty silly to me.
Also, I think it's absolutely ridiculous that no one from rane or Serato has made any response to this during this thread..
Finally, to the "-1 you should learn to beat match, I use traktor for this reason or another, down with bpm counter" fanboys:
Is this actually still a discussion??? I've been dj'ing for around 10 years, I learned on vinyl, I know how to beat match by ear, I now use Serato and most of the time it's with cdj's. either way, you do realize that the interface you use, traktor, also give you access to that neat little SYNC feature, which is the majority reason for all these pop up dj's out there that DON'T know how to beat match! So blame your own interface if you want to blame someone. If you want to be such a purist about things, you should just ask traktor and every other digital dj'ing tool to stop making products entirely, and just go back to playing vinyl, or better yet, why not just start mixing reel to reel. That's how dated this whole topic is.
Also, to touch on the condescending comments about not playing with waveforms or not playing a club without a monitor etc.. What exactly do you do when you're playing a gig and all of a sudden your headphones crap out on you??? Let me guess, you can totally cue all your tracks strictly off the VU meters right?
I'm going to stop there because this can go on for days.
The real point is, yes, everyone should know how to beat match, but the tools that are developed to make OTHER things during your set more accessible should be utilized not demonized. It's called progress people, you sound like you're a thousand years old. That mentality should have followed disco on it's way out.
Anyway, +1 for having bpms in tenths on the standard vertical view, it's annoying that it's not in every view and it makes no sense.
Maybe I should just switch to traktor lol

I dont understand why its a crime to have an Aid to help you beatmatch
Being a DJ is 50% about playing the right music, audience dont care how amazing your beat matching it, they are more concerned with the music you play, rather then how you mix it!
So +1

Yes please! I hope the answer won't be, "We have moved all future development efforts to Serato DJ and as such no new features such as this will come to SSL". I kinda fear this is what will be stated, however. :(
As much as I respect what's going on with the unification of Serato DJ, I'll be sticking with SSL for a long time to come with my SL3. It just "feels" better (I've used both at length), and SSL has needed features which Serato DJ does not include.
SSL will still be the professional choice by many DJs for many years to come.
