macbook pro not detecting projection screen

hope you can help. my club has the ttm 57 and i have the video app on my serato as well. ive had no problems having my mac detect the projector up until 2 weeks ago. another dj (has the regular mac book)that does video dj came into play a day before me. since then my macpro snow leopard will not detect or read the projector. i have gone into my system preference and went to displays where it would show arrangements.it does not even do that at all. the projector has hdmi connectors which i conntect from hdmi converted into my mini port dvi. where would i start to trouble shoot this problem? do you know if it is a serato software or do you think its the projector side of it. if that is so, any ideas on how my mac can detect projector? maybe a bad cable? anyway detecting that? can you please tell me where to start and troubleshoot the problem

test it out on something else first with the same connector and see if your mac is bad or not.

1 of 2 things I would check...when I 1st got my DVI connector...it was a Belkins cord which didn't work...took it back went to the apple store got the right one....Or check to make sure the setting on the Macbook are not set to mirrored

when you cllick on detect displays on system preferences does it find it? did you select hdmi input on the projector? maybe the other dj used rca/vga/s-cable instead of hdmi

First off, if the projector is connected using baluns and CAT5 or CAT6 cables, try power-cycling the baluns. I've seen situations where those things just stop transmitting a signal for no apparent reason, and power-cycling them clears up the problem. Ditto for any other HDMI switching/distribution equipment that might be in the signal chain, and the projector itself.

If none of that gets you anywhere, the next thing I'd try is a direct connection to the projector with a short cable. If that works, then some troubleshooting is needed in the regular video signal path.

Sometimes I have to restart my Mac and VSL in order to get the projectors at the casino to "see" my output. Try hooking up like you normally would, and see if you have output. If not, close out VSL, restart your computer, and reopen Scratch Live and then VSL. I can tell when it's going to work because it kind of "resets" the preview window onscreen, and I have to drag it off and expand it again.

I don't know why this happens, but it has happened to me a few times... and I have always been able to get it going after a little bit of effort.

I know sometimes i have to unplug and replug the minidisplay port adapter for it to recognize the display. If anything the 2nd display/projector should be on first, then connect the minidisplay port/vga or whatever cable u use into your mac's display port then it shall recognize. You will notice your mac screen will flicker, then see your mac's display appear on the 2nd display.

I've tried to connect via VGA to Christie L6 and a Barco no signal. Connected to Lcd tv and worked. Any ideas how I can get a signal?
