It would be great for SSL to have support for multicore CPUs, seeing as that's the way the technology seems to be going... it could have great performance benefits, even if only when rebuilding overviews...

oversimplified:

i'm sure the code is already multi-threaded. it really comes down to the process scheduler in the OS to take advantage of SMP.
