4-0! The team is playing well. Odom and Gasol are on fire! I hope Odom continues this level of play throughout the season, especially when Bynum returns.

yes sirr /\/\

I am liking the renegade bench trio it looks like they can keep up the tempo of the game and maintain a well establish lead.
bandoma 3:59 PM - 3 November, 2010
Yup! The bench looks dope and they could definitely maintain the level of play to sustain leads unlike last year's bench.
Steve Dub. 4:47 PM - 3 November, 2010
I missed the game damnit.

I need to buy a ticket to a game this season.
bandoma 6:07 PM - 3 November, 2010
I just bought some tix for next weeks game against the timberwolves. I tried buying them off ticketmaster but it was impossible. Stub hub has a bunch of them.
Steve Dub. 6:08 PM - 3 November, 2010
How much?
bandoma 6:12 PM - 3 November, 2010
$59 a ticket with shipping and fees for the 300 section mid court. I think the cheapest tix were $32.

Props to the lakers. I am a die hard knicks fan. I haven't miss a game since the 80's. I sit in woody allens seats a few times a year. I know they suck but they are getting much better. I am excited about them this year.
With that said I have always been a fan of the lakers and boston. 2 great franchises. I love watching those teams play. I can't wait for the all star game. I will be out there in LA

I saw a poor effort on both Gasol and Artest in the rebounding. I can't believe Love was beating them on the off. rebounds

I was laughing at Fish when he took that charge and hit the floor laughing at the Timberwolves player, I was like wtf is up with Fisher. It was more of a frustration laugh versus a "you aint shit" laugh". lol

For some reason, the lakers make it interesting when they play crappy teams. Poor rebounding and turnovers are the reason why the game was so close. Anyways, I'll take 8-0.

Thursday's game against Denver should be good.

Dj-M.Bezzle 2:51 PM - 14 December, 2010
on the possible positive note, the reason the hornets havent been able to go all the way is the owner nickel and diming the team into medicracy. If a real marc cuban type owner bought the team and put the right pieces into place they cold be contenteds. Paul is a beast but i dont see him putting in 100% with this ownership situation
Nicky Blunt 2:51 PM - 14 December, 2010
IDK whats gonna happen. But it looks like a rocky road for the hornets!
Nicky Blunt 2:52 PM - 14 December, 2010

well this one has a little more credence since chris paul is arguably one of the best point guards on the planet who took his team pretty deep into the playoffs based soley on his shoulders. Give him at least one supporting preimeir players to take some of the weight off his shoulders and its on, he almost did it with tyson chandler who was average at best
Nicky Blunt 4:20 PM - 14 December, 2010
You do have a point there.

But right now, Its all about D. Rose!!!! Dude is a beast! & Now with Boozer Noah & Deng (We will not mention Korver) LOL we have a pretty legit squad now!

Should get passed the 1st round this year!
bandoma 4:35 PM - 14 December, 2010
Lakers have been stinking it up lately. Not impressed with their play the last 10 games. In the mean time, the heat have won 9 in a row.

Ron Artest can't hit a shot, Pau looks gassed and I have no idea who Character is.

At least Bynum is back tonight.

Lakers better be ready on Christmas.
Nicky Blunt 4:58 PM - 14 December, 2010
yah you guys had an awesome start, then kinda fell off, the polar opposite of the heat start.
Steve Dub. 5:22 PM - 14 December, 2010

dosent matter the teams in the east will be beating the crap out of each other while the lake show coasts to the finals, you know the big green machine and the heat is gonna be a slobberknocker in the playoffs

+1 he needs to step it down a notch or two, get the two bigs (Bynum / Gasol) involved more, they can dominate in the paint.

I hope its just a fluke and we can start to play championship basketball before going in to the all star break and then build the momentum into the playoffs.

its hard to dominate when your only exposure to the ball is it clanging off the rim.

Shannon is slumping. When he doesn't score, his whole game goes to shit.
Blake is slumping
Odom is busy with Khloe
Artest just plain sucks
Gasol is back to bitch form, but now he can't make a shot
Fisher still sucks
Bynum is alright
Kobe can't score like D.wade anymore
The rookies can't do shit.
Barnes is alright

+1 on Odom

it seems like Artest therapy is paying off, dude is not playing like a maniac no more which is sad because that's what the Lakers need from him.

Gasol is plain weak...
Fisher is on his last minutes, but I like how he shows his presence when it comes to playing hard (nm).

I think he took 11 consecutive shots. I can't blame him for taking half of those 11 shots to me it looked like none of the other players wanted to be involved. Bynum sucked, Gasol still weak, the only one who stepped up was Odom but Kobe managed to bring down his energy. Regardless it's 5 vs 5 not 1 vs 5.......

Good game for the Celts, too bad they wont make the finals :D

Kobe - Ball hogging because nobody else was fucking playing...
Gasol - is still a fucking bitch.
Bench - sucks cock

I didnt see the nut punch - I missed most of the first half actually...All I know is KG looks like a cagged animal and Gasol should def take it down a notch cuz KG would brutalize his ass if they ever went at it...

Artest KG be a good fight tho lol...

Lakers just really arent good...Depth is awful...Bynum is as productive as Shaq is right now...Odom is shunned by Kobe...there is just no chemistry on the Lakers right now and I think the Celtics really exposed that more then any other time all season...Kobe needs to take control but at the same time not completely take out the team ...

I forget what stat the announcers said last night something like the Lakers had 35 FG's and 6 assists or something...

Celtics had 35 FG's and 28 assists...

Goes to show the Celtics trust everyone to score while the Lakers are a one man show

Yah.

Avid Laker watchers know the real truth to the whole one man show arguement with Kobe. Although true, it hasn't really been evident this year. This game is a microcosm of what the Laker team is this year.

Gasol and Bynum get touches but they don't do shit. They pass it back out with a guard with the clock late or shoot the motherfucking ugliest shots ever. I swear Gasol can't back down anybody to save his life. Glen Davis owned him on defense. Bynum can't quick jump anymore. Lamar is good, but a lot of times, he isn't that reliable on offense. Also when the bench comes in, it all goes to hell. The bench really uses the Gasol and Bynum but the Lakers sink b/c Gasol and Bynum can't do shit when they have the ball, now you have Shannon Brown dribbling and shooting (gross). Also, earlier in the year when the lakers were on fire, Brown was on fire, he has now come back down to earth.

Gasol and Artest for Melo and Nene... Done.

The problem with the Lakers starts and ends with the coach. Yup Phil Jackson. He's a mediocre coach at best and is a horrible "in-game" coach. Do you ever see him make any significant game changing strategies? NOPE

The problem is much more complex than pointing fingers at any particular player. It's the way the team is built. This team is built to play within the triangle system and PJ likes old, slow moving, experienced players. The teams built don't need to be the most athletic, the fastest, and the most exciting to watch....in fact, the LakeShow is how do I say this -- boring to watch, minus Kobe's footwork and occasional shooting streaks. When you have most of your team as old as I am (over 30), you are going to get burned left and right and have trouble keeping up with the younger teams. Kobe 32, Artest 31 (but playing like his 37), Fisher 36, Odom 31, Gasol 30, Blake 30, Barnes 30, not too mention Joe Smith (37), Theo Ratliff (37), the only you young legs you have are Bynum and Brown plus the rookies....what are their names again? Having old bodies comes along with having experience. Lakers lack youthfulness and athleticism and it's really starting to show.

Lakers rely too much on Kobe and too much on their length to get things done. Kobe forces way too many shots...shit isn't even close most of the time now. We all know that getting burned by quick guards is one of the Lakers biggest weakness. Defense starts at the top and when your PG is constantly getting burned, it causes everyone else, especially Bynum and Gasol to scramble to clog the middle.

Lakers are still up there to threepeat but some changes have to be made in order for them to even make it out of the first couple rounds of the playoffs.

I can't wait for PJ to retire honestly. He's a shitty coach.

Pat Riley was a Great Coach...

The thing with Phil Jackson is - He's never had to coach a shitty team..He's ALWAYS coached the best players...I'd like to see what he could do with a team like Cleveland or the Clippers - that would show his true legend...RED ftw.

The Phil Jackson coaching great teams argument is terrible. A couple of coaches before phil got to the Lakers could not get it done with Kobe and Shaq. There were some Bulls team that only had Jordan and Pippen, I remember one year it was randy livingston, jordan, pippen, toni kukoc, and luc longley. yuck.

Tig: please youtube KG running away from Antonio McDyess or KG getting punked by Anthony Peeler.

You've changed your argument into a generalized rant of PJ not being a good coach to now PJ is good at managing egos but not a good in-game coach. So which is it?

The Bulls won like 73 games and breezed through the playoffs. You'll now probably say that all he did during that year was sit there and did no coaching.

The year the Lakers beat the Blazers for Western conference finals and then beat the 76ers, the last game between the Blazers and Lakers, Phil gave Kobe the ball to dominate and subbed in Brian Shaw, who hit a couple of huge threes to get them back into it.

The year the Lakers almost upset the Phoenix Suns, The line up was Smush Parker, Kobe Bryant, Luke Walton, Lamar Odam, Kwame Brown. Phil had Smush Parker and Luke Walton playing at a really high level. Even Smush Parker was the one that came up with that steal against Nash.

Yah he isn't a great coach.

I wouldn't trade Bynum for Melo. Their biggest advantage, length, would be considerably less without Bynum. If Lakers want to win now, they need to keep Bynum, however down the road, Melo might be a bigger payoff.

Bynum is their defensive presence in the middle and losing him and gaining Melo doesn't make much sense. Lakers don't have problems scoring, although when Kobe and Pau come out, the Lakers look lost. This is where Melo would pay off as he could give Lakers buckets when Kobe is resting.

Melo's defense sucks and is rather slow footed.

If any trades are to be made, we need a guard who can defend quick guards.

I think the best trade for everyone involved is for the lakers to trade kobe to new orleans for chris paul, chris is a great point with young legs and a great future so the lakers would be set for years, and kobe would be able to play on a team where noone wants to touch the ball

I've been a huge fan of Bynum, but the dood lacks the intensity and heart to be a great big man. He seems lazy and uninterested most of the time and he's INJURY PRONE.

The game against the C's showed how important Andrew Bynum is to the Lakers. He provided a big presence (literally) and was a key player in helping the Lakers win.

My grip with PJ is Bynum never gets burn time late in the 4th quarter. How is he ever suppose to learn to play in crunch time if he never gets the chance.

Artest should NOT be playing deep into the 4th. That guy makes DUMB decisions.

That isn't indicative of the point you were trying to make. BTW, if artest is in there late in the 4th, is because of his stellar defense. Bynum is a big body defensively but will get foul as soon as he touches the ball, remember Shaq.

I could have sworn all you Cs fans were bitching how "If we had Perkins in game 6/7 of the Finals, C's would have won". Well at least you have Shaq who will most definitely be healed fit and in game shape by the time playoffs roll around. LMFAO.

Seriously though, I thought the C's FUTURE was going to be built around Rondo and Perkins. A top 5 point guard with one of the better centers in the league is a good core to build around. There has to be something behind closed doors that we don't know about the situation.

For all those who thought the Lakers should have traded Bynum for Melo, Bynum has been a key factor in winning a lot of games like the Spurs and the Hawks last night.

IF he can stay healthy (big IF), the Lakers are the team to beat.

Still think Jackson needs to let Bynum play in the 4th quarter in big games.
DJ DECK 7:04 PM - 9 March, 2011
Something happened to Bynum because he seems like a different player. At least the rumors help (is that was the case) of the potential of him being traded to boost up his game, still he his prone to injuries but hopefully he is able to maintain good health which will be good for the Lakers down the road.

They'll definitely make the playoffs, possibly even go to the 2nd round. However, the numbers don't lie and their performances against the elite teams haven't been great. They already had to worry about Boston, Chicago and Orlando. Now NY is a problem for them.

And you can't really make a direct comparison to LA and Boston. As LA fans like to joke, LA has "a switch" they like to flip come playoff time (they flipped it 5 weeks early for Sunday's game against the Spurs). Last year, Boston admitted to taking it easy and taking some losses during the close of the reg season so that the starters could be healthy and rested come playoff time.

Miami has no similar line of reasoning. They look like they're playing as hard as they can but just coming up short. They're a young team that's relatively healthy. No switch to flip and no injuries to blame it on.

Lakers 2001 season " A month before the 2001–02 season's training camp, O'Neal had corrective surgery for a claw toe deformity in the smallest toe of his left foot. He was ready for the start of the regular season, but the toe frequently bothered him."

Lakers 2002 "After the season, O'Neal told friends that he did not want another season of limping and being in virtually constant pain from his big right toe. His trademark mobility and explosion had been often absent. The corrective options ranged from reconstructive surgery on the toe to rehabilitation exercises with more shoe inserts and anti-inflammation medication. O'Neal was already wary of the long-term damage his frequent consumption of these medications might have. He did not want to rush a decision with his career potentially at risk"

Lakers 2003 "O'Neal missed the first 12 games of the 2002–2003 season recovering from toe surgery.[32] He waited the whole summer until just before training camp for the surgery and explained, "I got hurt on company time, so I’ll heal on company time."["

Miami 2005 " In the second game of the 2005–06 season, O'Neal injured his right ankle and subsequently missed the following 18 games. Many critics stated that Heat coach Riley correctly managed O'Neal during the rest of the season, limiting his minutes to a career low. Riley felt doing so would allow O'Neal to be healthier and fresher come playoff time."

Now i realise several of these injurys were legit but he always had if worked on RIGHT before or in the begining of the season and milked the hell out of it

Anyone else think that was a bullshit call against Melo with 30 sec left in a playoff game.

Granted he took a horrible shot, and they should have dont a million other things to win, but that call took the friggin wind out of our sails.

It's not a bullshit call. It's a real call. Just because its the last 2 minutes of the game doesn't not make it a foul.

A back-up forward for the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team was arrested and jailed early Sunday for hitting a pregnant waitress at a downtown International House of Pancakes while drunk, according to police.

M. Spencer Green / AP PhotoLos Angeles Lakers forward Derrick Caracter, pictured here in 2010
Derrick Caracter, 22, was arrested about 1:18 a.m. Sunday at the IHOP in the 800 block of Canal Street, said New Orleans Police spokeswoman Shereese Harper.

Caracter, a 6-foot-9 forward who was in New Orleans for the playoffs series, was drunk and acting disorderly inside the restaurant, police said.

He "started grabbing and pulling" a pregnant waitress, prompting the manager to go outside and flag down a police officer, Harper said. The female officer tried to defuse the situation, Harper said, but Caracter remained obstinate. The officer arrested him.

He was handcuffed and taken to Orleans Parish jail and booked with one count of battery for hitting the waitress, as well as one count each of public intoxication and resisting arrest. Each charge is a municipal violation, police said.

Records show Caracter was released from jail, but it is unclear when his bond was posted.

The incident took place near the Lakers' hotel on a night in which there was no game. On Sunday night, the Hornets beat the Lakers and evened the playoff series at two games apiece. Caracter, a rookie, did not play.

The teams meet again Tuesday night in Los Angeles.

A manager at IHOP was aware of the incident but declined to comment Monday morning.

Artest WAS one of the best defenders and still makes an occasional defensive stop and given the right matchup he can make a it hell on someone, but this series he's been making very bad offensive decisions, like hosting up ridiculous 3's with no Laker in uniform around to rebound. Artest is old and slow and most of his defense comes in from reaching in swiping away for a steal or using his arms, not his feet.

Look at the stat sheet please, it isn't just 1 player. The lakers starters outscored the maverick's starters. Now look at the bench scoring, see where we got beat.

You won't win a damn game making only 1/3 of your baskets overall and having your bench shoot for 26%.

Not really. What's the old line about a playoff series? "It's never interesting until the home team loses a game."

It sucks, but it's true. Heat held home court advantage, now the Celtics have to respond and take the next two to even things up.

Meanwhile, the Lakers got flat-out EMBARRASSED at home two games in a row. In the worst and most ugly way possible. Blowing a HUGE lead in one game and then getting blown out. Nice.

Nice try to get a reaction about last year, though. 20 more free throws -- hope you enjoyed the refs in your pocket.

I'll say this much: the Lakers are completely capable of winning 4 of the next 5. I'll be shocked if they don't.

Blake's shot looks FLAT and maybe has a small hitch in it, because it's definitely not smooth. I have no problem with him taking shots when open, but when he starts turning over the ball and getting burned by the guy he's defending, I have a problem with him.

My bad ya'll.

I heard a commentary on ESPN breaking down Ron Artest and how he's been the best on-ball defender this series and they throw out low shooting percentages of all the players he's faced.

Maybe I'm just caught up on the mistakes he's made offensively.

Tonight's game is going to be interesting:

Starting lineup

Fisher, Kobe, Lamar, Gasol, Bynum
Steve Dub. 2:08 AM - 7 May, 2011
Yeah Artest is a great defender? Still one of the best playing today. Of course he's getting older and with that his D will suffer.

Even though Dirk had some wide open shots and so did Peja, the Lakers played pretty well overall. They just lost to the better team plain and simple.

Bynum was a beast, but did not get any looks towards the end of the 4th. Odom played a good overall game. Kobe wasn't great, but he wasn't horrible. Brown made some nice plays. Fisher still getting burned left and right. Geezus, he got burned TWICE by the defender going baseline with in a few minutes.

Hats off for Phil hitting Paula in the chest. Homegirl looked like he was going to cry.
Crackpipe 6:27 AM - 7 May, 2011
Lakers got burned by 3s
Mr. Goodkat 8:50 AM - 7 May, 2011

lemme say it again, U(as in laker fans/team) have no bench.
dj lad 8:15 PM - 7 May, 2011
Artest is more important than Lakers fans realized. He's 30 minutes of a good player on the court. It pushes Odom to the bench, and then limits the minutes of bad players.

Ron Artest's layup getting blocked by the rim, sums up it perfectly: Laker's game is comical. Pretty mind boggling you go from winning 10 championships to ending your career with the biggest embarrassment in NBA HISTORY.

That's what happens when almost everyone on your team is over 30 and you have some slow footed guards who couldn't guard their own shadow (Blake, Fisher, Brown, Artest). Time for Phil and Fisher to retire, keep the core of Kobe, Odom, Bynum, Gasoft in tact. Get rid of Blake, Brown, and somehow dump those horrible contracts of Artest and Walton. Time to get younger and faster.
Crackpipe 9:25 PM - 8 May, 2011
Thanks Phil and Fisher for 5 championships. Now time for ya'll to move along and pick up some younger, quicker guards who can close out shooters and guard their own shadow.

Dude we got to the Eastern Finals last season, & we strengthened our only weak spot. We have MVP point guard (D. Rose) I honestly think we have a shot.
DJ DECK 3:41 PM - 4 January, 2012
Lakers are looking forward to a roller coaster season. What sucks is you really don't know what team will show up come tip off. :(

Still, GOOOOOOOOOOOO LAKERS!!!

Sooooo rasheed wallace to.the.lakers
djdannyd 10:05 PM - 24 February, 2012
Not the best option but for the price and adding stability to the bench I can see why it happened. Bad thing is that he hasn't played since 2010.
Crackpipe 9:22 PM - 26 February, 2012
Rasheed was one of my favorite players in the early 2000s. He'll bring some intimidation to the cute and cuddly Lakers
djdannyd 9:56 PM - 26 February, 2012
Barnes, Metta & Rasheed = bad boys!
Crackpipe 10:17 PM - 26 February, 2012
metta is not a bad boy, he's soft and cute (NH)
Banana_Peter 12:42 AM - 27 February, 2012
Barnes is a bitch
Nicky Blunt 12:44 AM - 27 February, 2012
All Star Weekend, who's gonna win, east or west coast? I want the east to win.
