The Bridge VS Video for 2.0

DJ Xio 4:55 AM - 7 October, 2010
Just out of curiosity and to actually give Serato some guidance.
If you had to pick 1 feature for Itch 2.0... Which would it be?

Bridge or Video Mixing?

Maybe Serato might take a democratic approach... who knows! ;)
hologram 5:50 AM - 7 October, 2010
video first bridge second with video
Kunststoff 5:53 AM - 7 October, 2010
Bridge first
kraal 7:11 AM - 7 October, 2010
neither cause i think both those really should be separate from 2.0 i mean if all 2.0 translates to is needing to buy abelton then it is not worth the upgrade.

and even tho i would mess with video. video is not a big deal maker
Maskrider 7:41 AM - 7 October, 2010
Video first and foremost..........Bridge can wait.
illkid 1:32 PM - 7 October, 2010
video first
Hitman303 1:43 PM - 7 October, 2010
video!
I wonder if you would need a whole new controller or could it be integrated into say the NS7?
haze324 4:19 PM - 7 October, 2010
Bridge.

Maybe I just don't get the video aspect of being a VJ....but as a DJ, i am in more need of sampler, extra deck, better effects, etc.

Krall,

....hey, you already know what my alternate solution to that is :)

(but I honestly don't see much of that happening with just a version release - that's alot to add and work on, while still fixing 1.7)

if you look back in the forums you will see that 1.7 was never planned to exist.... serato put out a poll get beatgid for all controllers or wait till 2.0 we voted and got 1.7 which works for some and not for all -- so i feel serato isnt standing still on pushing 2.0 forward
haze324 5:13 PM - 7 October, 2010
Im sure they're pushing fwd.....but Q4 2009 was a long time ago. I think the grids are awesome, but that's a long time to be working on something and provide a product audio drops. So with the announcement of The Bridge coming in 2011 do we know what 2.0 will have in store. At some point Serato has to put SOMETHING out and it could not have some of features we'd all wish it did.
Eric N 5:15 PM - 7 October, 2010
Video first for sure. The Bridge has lots of potential, but it's going to take a lot of self-schooling in Ableton before I can do anything monumental with it.

I already have video shows every week, and my VCI gets no love while my 1200s get packed and unpacked over and over for basement practice, band rehearsal, shows, etc.

bridge. it is designed to make ideas possible. bring creativity to life.
Maskrider 9:21 PM - 7 October, 2010
The way SERATO did with SSL is Video first so I expect the same.

my predictions............
1.8= stable itch (fix drop out bug) better efx
1.9= above + sample and bridge support (with bugs)
1.9xx= fix sample and bridge bugs
2.0= whole new gui + video
2.0.xx- maintenance release..
2.1.xx= stables dj app with a bundel of features and ultimately becoming the software of my dreams :D
haze324 5:35 AM - 8 October, 2010
^
My prediction.

It will go from 1.7 to 2.0 and have fixed effects, and bridge. Video will follow, and later a maintenance release. After a pretty long wait, I would think they release ONE major update vs. small bits at a time.

How long, is the main question.
Gary Tracey 10:54 AM - 8 October, 2010
I Agree totaly Haze324, There may be a revison of 1.7 to fix certain issue,s but then straight to 2.0 (with the Bridge)
Hopefully This will be very early 2011 and we see a beta maybe this Year
DJ Pimp 8:15 PM - 8 October, 2010
Video!!!!!
DJ Xio 6:25 AM - 9 October, 2010
So far looks like Itch users prefer video over bridge!!!

Hope you guys are watching!

hmmm i would not say that only about 20 people even commented on this thread hardly represents all itch users
Maskrider 9:42 PM - 9 October, 2010
Compared to How many people that likes Bridge?
DJdaveZ 10:54 PM - 9 October, 2010
its not like this thread will have any impact though... 1.7 is out... theyve stated that 2.0 is in the works... obviously they have it planned out already.

I got a feeling 1.7 will be fixed far sooner than you think ;-)
haze324 9:30 AM - 11 October, 2010
Cerla.

...I agree :)

but how soon after that fix will 2.0 come out is the "real" question!
DJ Xio 5:00 AM - 12 October, 2010
Ever heard of focus groups?

Pretend this is one!
bigdik magee 1:01 AM - 13 October, 2010
man that's a good question....

I have to go with BRIDGE though.

I gave up my TTM57 to get the NS7 assuming I wouldn't have as long as a wait as we have for video. I do a lot of mobile gigs and had to make a choice as I couldnt afford to have both. So the NS7 made more sense for my needs.
I've got a 2tb hard drive full of videos that I can't use unless I use Virtual DJ. I didn't get my NS7 for The Bridge I got it for videos. So my vote is for videos.
bigdik magee 3:54 AM - 13 October, 2010
I just need more effects.... the bridge adds some opportunity for that, gives me apc40 control as well + video ultimately through bridged ableton.

Can I have effects and video.... then bridge? ;) -BDM

+100 I just want built in effects with sampler with video. bridge can wait. I guess those of us with out ableton are stuck out until we invest in ableton. Itch is starting to suck

i'm playing around with the live lite software and an akai midi controller/keyboard now. when the bridge is ready for beta, ill upgrade to full ableton.
DJ_Esco 7:04 PM - 13 October, 2010
Wow this is more like asking: What type of DJ are you?
Are you a performer or Producer?

Do you create and develop while mixing, thus expanding the boundries or Do you just play hard?

I want MTV to go back to being Music Television!!!!
Notice on the logo it only says MTV and has the "Music Television" part which was located under it removed.

But to answer your question both are great.
DJdaveZ 7:15 PM - 13 October, 2010
i'd like to think that today in professional djing you see a lot of people being both a producer/remixer and dj... to be truly unique, you have to have your own music. thats kinda the way im looking at it.

I dont plan on cutting any loses the damage was done when I purchased. LOL! ITCH SUCKS by the directions it is going. Trust when a better options comes along that works with vci-300 I will take it. I bought into the idea of the controller. Itch as a stand alone software would be the bottom......... wait I am way off topic sorry!

I already own Traktor, Torq and Virtual Dj. and Itch Still Sucks but the others Suck more for not supporting the VCI300
Dj Fitty 8:17 AM - 14 October, 2010
Its funny I started a new discussion, from my highjack post, about how I feel about Itch and Serato deleted it lol ok I know highjack number 3
thebeatworx 5:25 PM - 14 October, 2010
I would like to see The Bridge or ReWire support for itch... Or full SSL support for the VCI 300... I believe that opening up sample decks and effects or at least allow the integration of 3rd party software through ReWire would be great. I'd ultimately like to see The Bridge incorporate direct recording of scratching to Ableton.

I think video mixing has it's place in the DJ world, but I like to focus on being able to manipulate audio first and get it down solid before moving on to video. I believe development-wise, Serato in America will soon be left in the dust once people start seeing the feature rich implementations of Traktor (and even VDJ) in which users don't need to purchase separate / extra hardware to get the standard features of effects and extra decks. Serato ITCH is solid, but I think a lot of DJs are looking for features to match the standard ones offered in their DVS counterparts.

Agree 100%. On the same note I think if Itch incorporates many of the features other softwares offer they would win the race hands down.

1. Bridge
2. 4 Decks
3. Video
Dj Ace 3:54 AM - 15 October, 2010

in Serato language thats gonna equal two software's running at the same time and two to three controllers LOL and you didnt even say effects, ching ching goes the cash register

I will WAIT till serato finish with all their updates and effects and video, bridge n sampler updates, then when I figure out what I want, I will have to WAIT again for the perfect controller. I dont plan on buying a midi controller every time new features come out. So come Vestax think future updates when making the next controller

Thats why its not the best quality output since they use their own proprietary decoder, performance is really good but the image quality is not as good as VSL.
