NS7 Soft Case (SKB SC3015) - where to get one?

I've been using the Odyssey case since I got my NS7 and I have a love/hate relationship with it (my review: serato.com).
The biggest gripe that I have with it though is that it's absurdly heavy and bulky. While this also makes it able to take serious abuse, getting it into a tight booth, a convertible''s trunk, or running around with it while trying to catch a cab isn't for the faint of heart.
Anyways, I just found out that SKB makes a badass soft case for the NS7 (www.americanmusical.com & cachepe.zzounds.com). It's exactly what I need. Unfortunately every retailer I know is sold out, with widely varying in-stock dates.
This generally means nobody knows when, or if, they'll get it. So does anybody here have any leads on this case?
If you have one please let me know how you like it too!

Just talked to SKB directly. They're not making any more right now, but may release it "around January". Pretty bummed about that!

Pretty sweet looking case. Too bad you would have to take out the ns7 every time to use it because of ventilation :(.

...and to get access to the ports, but honestly this would not be an issue since it'd be as easy as taking your laptop out of a bag.

and what's wrong with that? for weight and space savings, I am game.

Apparently the SKB case can also be carried like a backpack. A bit intense considering the size, but useful when going to your booth through a tightly packed crowd:

Any one has any news on the SKB case or the likes? I am looking for a soft case similar to the SKB. Help....

The reason we can't find it is because it was discontinued by SKB. I don't think it was advertised enough in the beginning and therefore didn't get allot of buys early on. But it is definitely something that SKB should consider bringing back. Maybe we should sign a petition. Anyone want to start one?
DJ Splat
8:22 PM - 20 December, 2010
I talked with SKB on this a month ago and they were not able to release at said time. 1st reason was that the back pack straps needed to be taken out of the design because the unit was to heavy to facilitate straps. Also they were not aware that there would nee to be a place to hold the laptop stand, so that was be implimented into this next rev. Also they were going to be making an area availiable for storing the the NSFX. Haven't heard anything else except might be availiable in January 2011.

That is certainly good news. At least they are aware of our needs...

I definitely want one too cause that NS7 is already heavy enough by itself w/o adding a hard case.....WORD!lol

That is awesome news and I hope SKB don't outright discontinue it. I like the idea that they are improving the product by incorporating new features to accommodate new needs. That's awesome.
I prefer the soft case simply for portability. The NS7 case is taking up too much room in my small sedan car that need to pack two subs, 2 tops, along with lights and poles so a soft case will be perfect.
I believe there is a market for it.

hmmmm interesting, i think i'd want one too although i'd be a little hectic at the beginning, the soft case definitely won't take the beating as the hard case. I'm a mobile dj so i just put the numark hard case on top of my proel table and im good to go, if the table falls or someone kicks it the hard case will protect my ns7 but using that soft case will make me take the unit out of the case and put the bare ns7 on top of my portable table.
But i'd definitely use it to carry my unit to a club where i know i'll put my unit in a safe place on a stage.

Thanks for following up with them DJ Splat. They told me January as well, but they gave you awesome specifics too! That's gotta mean they're not just pulling our leg.
I like MusicDan's idea for a petition. Personally, I'd got a step further and prepay SKB just to make sure the case gets made.

I just spoke with SKB. Good news and bad news. The bad news is that the case won't be out until April or May, which is a bit of an insane wait but the good news is that SKB will be making it and will include the improvements (NSFX/laptop stand storage) that DJ Splat mentioned. Hope that release date is a very conservative estimate...

hmm it looks nice to me. specially for those coming from the numark hard case where you cant fit the laptop stand, the nsfx and a laptop.

it looks clunky and I prefer the old version. this version takes away the compactness of the softcase and it is not any different than the piano case I have lying around. grrr....

FIrst of all thanks DJ dVO for pointing this out. Even though I've talked to SKB before I never saw the prototype of this new case.
I feel you that I'd rather have this be ultra-compact, I don't need the wheels and the laptop/NSFX pouch as I can throw that into my much better padded laptop case. I guess if those features were somehow removable then it'd be great.
Still, there is no question I'll buy this as soon as it comes out. Transporting the NS7 + flightcase is way too much of a pain.

I like it. Seems to cover all the bases. I would imagine if it didn't have the wheels, the additional storage for laptop and NSFX module then many would complain about the lack of all or one of those features missing from it. As far as bulk, well let's be honest, once you mistakenly drop it in the case and it comes out unharmed, that will make you glad it had some bulk. If someone buys it please come back here and do a mini-review. Thx.

I personally still think the old model of the SKB softcase for the NS7 is a much tighter and compact design than this new model. I am willing to buy the old model off anyone if you are thinking of getting rid of it. Please PM me.... I search all over ebay to but no avail.....

I'm More than likely going to get the soft case for when i am moving my equipment on my own....But my Odyssey flight case definitely paid for itself last night....as i was about to get out of a cab..the eager driver decided to get out and take my case out of the trunk....you all know where this is going....the DOUCHE dropped my case, BOOM. I was still in the cab sifting through my money when i heard the bang.....I get out of the cab and the driver is standing there looking at the case on the ground like a kid who just dropped a glass in the kitchen. Before i could ball my fist up, a friend of mine walks over and picks up the case and distracts me. I proceed to walk in the venue with all of my money in my pocket. all the cab driver got from me was a mean stare! i get to the booth and open my case....not a scratch, dent or ding! NS7 played like it does every other day!! Ended up having to pack my stuff up and leave anyway. Some project in the club crappy contractor, cut the cables from the speakers to the amp....No sound at all aside form the monitors in the DJ booth. Ah well.
I was going to get rid of the case due to the weight, but now keeping it forever. thank you Odyssey. Soft cases are cool if you are the only one that will ever touch it!!! but if there is even a slender chance someone else will touch your case...Coffins are the way to go

I wouldn't get rid of the flight case but I think a smaller, lighter case that allows you to carry the NS7 by hand or by shoulder is much needed.

4:48 PM - 2 April, 2011
+1 my thoughts exactly. Keeping the Odyssey case for when it's needed, but the soft case for when I drive to gigs.

my plan was to get rid of the odyssey case for a lighter one maybe the numark or road ready version minus the tray and keyboard slide....i know the difference in weight is not super substantial, but i currently live on the 4th floor of a building that in my opinion has way too many steps as is, so every pound counts!!!
Any real word on when that soft case is dropping?

I've carried much bigger/ heavier backpacks....having the option would have been great though. now I wouldnt run up a flight of steps with it on m back but...from the car to the venue would be too bad, i dont think..ah well

I'd email SKB, they're usually very good about getting back to you. I'm sure if the NS7 case starts selling well they'll consider making one for the NS6 as well. That being said I saw a few forum posts here about people fitting keyboard and other cases for the NS6.

So i kind of forgot about the soft case thing for the NS7 sicne i havent even plugged mine in since the end of April. I am slowly losing confidence in this case....i contacted SKB directly to see if i could get my hands on a tester or prototype or something and not even a swtach of fabric...this is BS....nobody wants to preorder it because nobody can get thier hands on one. im sure if they release a few to stores or some well known/popular NS7 owners they would start selling. provided they arent horrible bags. but nothing. most people nowadays need that instant feedback of a teet or a forum post saying you this is dope or this sucks go with this...SKB is dropping the ball on this....the NS7 sold like hotcakes (not sure how sales are now) WE NEED THIS BAG, release it already.

Since the straps would got from top to bottom...it's probably not the best idea to put 3 separate pieces of equipment in this bag. Especially since there will be nothing to really hold the mixer down but the foam pad on top. Might save yourself a lot of cosmetic and possible real damage to your stuff getting something a bit more specific for you needs.

Aside from being a bit too tall this does look like it'll fit the NS7 well with some additional padding. For $26 I might just pick that up and see if I can fit it for the NS7!

Just bought www.ebay.com for $30 with free shipping.
Another guy here got it for his NS7: serato.com
I'll see if I can just add some padding to the sides so the NS7 is snug. It looks like it'll offer more protection than the stand bag.

I just got it and it's actually an extremely well made case. I'm seriously impressed, as good as SKB's guitar cases. Very tough on the outside and almost luxurious on the inside. I'll take pics later.
Unfortunately it doesn't fit in my Porsche's excuse for a trunk like the Body Glove case does so it's useless to me. I'm really sad it's come to this after so much time. If anybody wants what may be one of the few of these cases in existence send me a private message.

Okay, so I just received the SKB soft case for the NS7FX. What's my impression? I think that was the worst purchase I have ever made and felt I just wasted a $129 plus taxes and others.
My review: It's gigantically enormous!!! If you're looking for anything in a smaller size than the flight case, don't get this soft case as it is a waste of money. Quality is a joke since the pull strap/handle is torn from my only first attempt to try it!
