Myself, I subscribe to Promo Only Mainstream Radio. I'm thinking of adding another format, but I'm not sure what to add. I would like to see what formats you guys are using and how they are working for you.

Mainstream Club here, I also subscribe to JonesTM PrimeCuts which is issued weekly. I used to sub to the Promo Only DVD service but stopped last year - I'm probably gonna re-up the music video service with JonesTM since they issue a data disc with pre-ripped videos in mpeg format.

Yeah, I noticed that.
That sounds cool, it would save time.

sorry im new.
the tracks thts has finished mastering n its on distribution only to record shops or specialist shops...so tht they can distribute it among the djs and by the time it comes people know about it...like promoting a track... but in most cases not every tracks are released...so the promotional copy stays with the dj and not many circulates in the market...so whoever is got it...they have like an upperhand(if tht track is like wowwww) till the time it comes out...

I have subscribed to Promo Only since 1997. They used to release stuff before it was available at the stores. Now if you've noticed in the past few years all their music is old and played out. By the time you get your disc in the mail the music is rarely played any longer. I may stop it soon if I can get into a good DJ Pool that has newly released edited versions of R&B/Pop hits.

Digiwaxx for hip hop club
PO Mainstream Club & Beatport for dance tracks
PrimeCuts for Mobile "other genre" formats and radio edits
This is how I cover myself.
Promo Only Radio and Urban series should be called Slo-mo Only. I subscribed to both from 94 -05 but stopped because tracks are so late.

I use x-mix and pay 65 for all their cd's per month radio urban, radio mainstream and rock and radio top40, urban mix and dance mix, plus any extras they produce that month. For example this month there was a double issue of the urban remix series and also a club classics cd being released all at no extra charge.
I also have Ultimix and Funkymix subscriptions.
X-mix does do a chartbuster series as well, older tracks that did well but where not on thier normal cds, but given a 32 beat intro.

I used to use PO Mainstream Radio for about 7 years but stopped since all the versions were editted. I found myself getting uneditted versions of the songs I was getting on PO which was a waste of money since most of my DJ work now is club. If I did strictly weddings I would probably subscribe again, but for me it's not worth it.

I use Promo Only Mainstream Radio for the past 10 years and Urban Radio for the first 7 of 10 years. Most of the jobs are weddings, sporting events, corporate functions, so they want Top 40 stuff.
PO works for me because they are usually current or upcoming. They are also edited so no worries about cuss words. The reason I stopped using Urban Radio CDs is because lately Hip Hop songs are more mainstream, so half (or even more) of the Urban songs are on Mainstream CDs! Only once a while I will get a certain Urban CD because Mainstream doesn't have it and it's a banger.

depends on what kind of dj you are man.
im a club dj so promo only sucks balls.
if your a wedding or mobile dj and dont mind having the hottest tracks a month late then promo only is for you.

But Promo Only isn't as good as similar services like TM Century or Top Hits USA. Promo Only is only big because they are the McDonalds of Promo Services. Both of the competitors I mentioned also offer video comparable to PO.

This appears to be an old thread, but I had to "chime in". I am currently subscribed to TM Studios Prime Cuts Plus AND Promo Only's POOL service. TM made me pay for a year in advance and you can't cancel. The online services are very poorly organized. Promo Only's POOL service is amazing. You can download the tracks you need when you need them and their POOL player is very well organized and much more user-friendly than the PrimeCuts website. Plus, you pay monthly with Promo Only and can cancel at anytime. I think that P.O. was slow at releasing new songs for awhile, but doing a head-to-head comparison of Promo Only and PrimeCuts, they are pretty close these days. I prefer Promo Only and will not be renewing my subscription to PrimeCuts.
