Just ran across this....don't know if it had been posted already. It's of no use to me now as I returned the unit after a week of use. I love my dicers...they sit perfectly, but now I'm curious to see how these are mapped out....lol. Somebody let me know how it goes.......

I'm surprised there's not one post on this yet....I guess everyone went to dicers....lol. Well, here's some more related news about supported midi controllers:

I think most people with the Denon unit stuck with 1.9.2 . There is a bug with that unit and 2.0 and 2.1 that has not yet been fixed.

Sometimes Scratch Live freezes and won't unfreeze until you unplug the unit. There were some other issues as well.

I just got this unit yesterday due to the release of the new mapping. I had tried the Dicers and Nanokey, but the Denon piece is really a complete controller. Great response on the buttons and the build quality is great. I had to remove the old MIDI files from the folder to get it to respond correctly, but it works nicely. No issues as others have described, thankfully. I'm sure they'll find a fix for this soon. Back to practice with it tonight.

Is this only a PC problem, I've been using my HC1000-S since December 09 without any issue on a Mac

Does this controller come with some kind of stand? I'm interesting in getting this and the new X600 mixer, just wondering how I'm going to mount this controller to the top of the mixer. How have you guys set it up with your decks?

I have mine below the laptop on my laptop stand. It works well, although it is heavy and can be on a more stable surface.

No Stand is supplied I use Velcro to stick it above the top of the mixer

I tried the new update, it's a good layout but it uses all the extra channels. The only thing I couldn't figure out how to do is change the selected effect in the drop using the denon controller. The .pdf says to use shift+knob, but that didn't seem to work. If I can get that to work, then it's pretty solid. I was using a nanoKontrol with my hc1000s, but now I don't need the nanokontrol.
Overall i'm pretty happy with it, it got me thinking now about going for an SL3 and a Video Controller vs my 57sl...

Hmm seems like the horizontal layout would just create nothing but trouble for me personally. Looks like the X1 is the go.

denon needs to produce a fancy video showing the mappings in action. also, if you are going to produce pdfs in english then clean them up a bit to look more professional...your comp is pioneer and native instruments and they aint slippin.

I tried this mapping out at the weekend, it worked great. really easy if you read the PDF.
If you've got the HC1000S you dont need a video

I think for the people that have considered buying this piece or just were looking for a midi controller to control efx a video would help make a decision....just a thought..

I Agree a video would help someone who doesnt have the controller. Really Denon should be making something.
My 2 Cents
The controller does operate the FX and its good enough for how much use the FX. If I had to find fault however; Is a bit fiddley to switch between maps, and its a pain that when you're in the FX map there is no access to cue points on the controller.

Maybe a combo of the denon and the dicers?? That might seem like a good combo for someone who uses turntables and would like to take advantage of efx and video controls if you don't own a 57. I'm just trying to think of a good scenario with an sl3. I use to use my 57 at the club but keeping it at home here lately with the purchase of Ableton and an APC40. Trying to figure out how I want to utilize everything for control and mappings. That's the main reason I commented on the denon....initially I purchased it but didn't like placement. I love the dicers for cue point and loop rolls but no knobs for efx/vsl. I'm looking for an easy inexpensive way for control at the club with VSL with the sl3 and I'm not sure if I want to purchase nanokontrol or go back with the denon.

HI Guys !
Since I've bought the HC1000s I have some issues with Serato 2.1, some small freeze of the audio (1sec), maybe 2 or 3 during a 6 hour set, but It's enough to make me nervous and it's not professional at all. I have a Mac Book Pro Dual Core, the latest mapping, plug the SL1 in the front USB port and the controller on the rear one (I tried once the opposite, I had just one bug, strange with SL1 on the weak port) . Buffer size 10, Audio cache 45. No more issue without the controller and after deleted the mapping file as well.
I could try to increase the USB Buffer but until what size is it acceptable ? 10 is already big I think, no ? I have a big gig this week and not the time to test several configuration. Imagine I have to mix 3 hours before the first freeze, change the settings, mix 3h again etc etc etc :)
So any advice ?
Thanks a lot.

I think you want your buffer set on the lower side of the scale. I run a MB Pro at the lowest USB buffer (0,1) with the Denon unit and no problems.

Seriously ? Has your MBP a Dual Core or a i5/i7 processor ?
I just erased the original "AUTOSAVE.xml" file as told on the Denon website. I will see if it's better. Did you have to do this before it works well or was it really plug and play ?
I will try with a Buffer Size of 5, but as I already experiment drop outs at 10 ... It may be dangerous ... But maybe the drop outs have nothing to do with the buffer size, rather with my OS configuration or something like that ( WIFI and Bluetooth are shutdown)
And did you stay at the 1.9.2 version too ?
Thanks to both of you.

I'm on a dual core MacBook aluminum with only 2GB of RAM and I still use my buffer at 0. I tried deleting my AUTOSAVE.xml, but every time I do that an restart Serato, it comes back...lol. I just leave it in there now and load the effects mapping every time I start Serato. Kinda lame but if anyone has suggestions, I'm open to them. By the way, the Denon piece is really nice. Better response on the cue button than anything else out there now.

I have followed the detailed instructions of how to install the midi mapping settings for the HC1000S super FX. However, now whenever I start up LIVE I have to go back into SETTINGS>MIDI and load in the AUTO_SAVE_HC1000SEFX file repeatedly in order for it to properly change FX types with the SHIFT-KNOB setting. After going back into the SCRATCH_LIVE > MIDI folder I notice that it recreates the AUTO_SAVE.xml that was previously in there. Therefore leaving 2 .xml files in the MIDI folder now. Please help!
I also have to mention that in the past using serato it has been rock solid with no issues AT ALL. This past Friday at a gig, I started up the system and it froze and would NOT load any tracks. I had to reboot the computer twice and restart Serato to get it to work. First time this has EVER happened and it was shortly after this 2.1 upgrade.
I ended up using my BACKUP CD's to play on the CDJ's because I once again was worried about the stability of the software. I am a longtime vinyl and CDJ DJ, who's main concern was the freeze up of a laptop during a set. Hence why I always bring a backup case.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Cheers,
Coppo

THe only problem i'm experiencing with the efx mapping for the denon controller is the [SHIFT] + [KNOB] to change/select an effect. I couldn't get that to work, and i even reloaded the xml file.
Anyone seeing this issue?
Other than that, it's working pretty good. I'm sure there are better controllers for controlling efx, but this one works for what I need it for.

I reloaded the mapping file and the [SHIFT] + [KNOB] scrolling started to work. This was against 2.1.1. Played around for about an hour and it worked nicely.
The only thing I don't like is when switching between different mapping channels, there's no quick indicator of what channel you're in.
