is there a big difference

At my local dj store they only got the technics 1200 sl mk2. Should i get the mk5 are the mk2.the ppl at the dj store said There aint a big difference and there giving me a dope deal. What do u guys think ? should i grab the mk2 are get the mk5 ?

The mk5g has expanded pitch control. In addition, the pitch control is digital, so supposedly all mk5g turntables are exactly the same pitch-wise (e.g. +4 on one of your mk5g's is exactly the same as +4 on someone else's mk5g). That is the only reason why I'd get an mk5g over an mk2. Otherwise, they all seem the same basically.

Speaking of techs, does anyone have/has anyone used mk4s? The ones with replaceable cables and 78rpm? How do they like them?

I thought the MK4s were only released in Japan and only were discontinued pretty rapidly, making them super rare?

Exactly; it seems like a lot of dj's have never even heard of them. They were in Pro Sound catalogs back in 1997/1998, but I didn't have that kind of money then (shit, I don't have that kind of money now). I wanted them so bad just because I would never have to open them up to replace those damn cables. Plus there was the wow factor.
