ok this is what i have so far. after upgrading to 1.7 i noticed the sound drop off. tried everything from switiching speakers to cables to usb to almost slamming the xone on the floor. ive been using the beta 1.7 since i got the xone. so i put in 1.6 that came with and installed it and no sound drop off what so ever. now my lights dont blink! come on guys! lets get this right!

You have to install the old firmware on the DX if you go back to an earlier version ex: 1.7 to 1.6, right now you have the newest firmware upgrade. Should solve the issue.

Hi bustinpeepee.
Can you let me know what the software version number is in the Setup screen of iTCH (the 5 digit number in brackets).
Also can you please explain 'sound drop off' a bit more? (Ie. what happens, what does it sound like, how long for, when, is there any consistency, does anything else happen?)
Also make sure you are doing everything in this article: www.serato.com

hi and thanks for the quick repsonse.
what i mean by sound drop off like if u lowered one speaker a lot compared to the other side. it is always the left side and it can be as short a 1 sec to as long as 30 sec so far. on version 1.7 the 5 digit number 17030 on 1.6 its 16029. how would i downgrade the firmware? thanks.

I dont see the link at A&H website any longer. I do remember that if you were running the stock 1.6 release included with the DX and then wanted to run a beta 1.7 you had to flash your firmware and if you decided to return using the 1.6 stock you would have to downgrade the firmware. You are using one of the most recent beta's so you should not have to downgrade I believe. Sorry, I know this isnt the answer you are looking for, have you submitted a bug report for your 1.7 release? Is 1.6 (16029) the CD release that cam with your DX?

Maybe someone from Serato or A&H can help here, and possibly send you the older firmware. you may want to open a help ticket at A&H support. I have v1.09 for PC not for MAC though. This discussion was similar to your situation.

to be honest, i dont think you should be looking to downgrade, but rather find out why you find 1.6 more stable than 1.7
i had dropouts all the time with 1.6 and they are pretty much gone with 1.7
it just doesnt make sense that this is not the case for you.. its like saying vista is better than windows 7...
im not saying your wrong, as your the one experiencing this, and are obviously not just making it up. im just saying there is something not right, 1.7 is more stable that 1.6 ..FACT.. now lets find out why this isnt the case for you.
quick question, have you installed the graphics update for osx 10.6.4? (apparently this was causing some problems with dropouts in another thread)

ok i just updated eveything you mentioned and its the same exact situation. no sound drop off in 1.6 but yes in 1.7. not even with the beta did i have sound drop off. you are 100% right about 1.7 being more stable besides the sound drop off. i would really like to use 1.7. im over the 30 day return policy so im out of luck there. i have 3 parties this weekend and dont know what else to do.

If your using a 15'' unibody macbook pro, 4gb ram and 2.4 ghz cpu and running 10.6.4 this could be the problem. Many of us with that setup are having dropouts. It is strange though that your 1.6 is more stable because 1.7 does have many fixes, especially to the effects and beat grid.
Some people have found a solution in downgrading to 10.6.3 to stop the dropouts with 1.7 so you could give that a try.
