Does anyone take a backup computer with them to gigs? One of the first times I've used SSL, I carried my desktop computer with a flat screen. When setting up, I found that the computer was dead. Turns out the motherboard was damaged.

I sure do. Back up laptop, Hard Drive, Cables, Needles, and when I get my 57 I'll probably get bring my box, or buy another one for back up.

LMAO.....
Not that you ever want anything to go wrong, but it feels so good to be able fix a problem with replacing the offending device right then and there.

i only take my backup gear if i am the ONLY dj spinning that night (which is very rare). one time i had a gig that my primary laptop would not boot and i had to go with the backup for the evening.

Yea, i normally take backup speakers (depending on the party), backup cd player and backup amps (always!!)...You can always still play with a blown speaker, but a blown amp and your done for! Also, clients like to hear that there is back up for the "just in case" rule.

Speaking of back up....The club I played at Saturday Night had a ttm 57 in the main room. I almost passed out.
However....one of the Turntables had a bad RCA. Fortunately I brought my Turntables (just in case). It especially worked out because there were CDJ's in the booth, but not in the other room and the other DJ needed them.
I'm glad I put the 1200's in the trunk.
