Ideal MIDI Controller for Scratch Live

KMXE 2:36 AM - 2 March, 2007
With MIDI being introduced soon, I'm sure some users are starting to think about what MIDI controller to use.

I have set up my Behringer BCR2000 controller to control all the functions in SSL (including scrolling through lists) via a program that converts MIDI signals to keystrokes. But this unit is too big and i would prefer to have more buttons available without having to set up 'banks', and therefore scrolling through 'banks'.

Ideally I would like something relatively portable but with enough buttons to control most performance functions all available at hand.

Assuming all the available parameters in Scratch Live will be able to be controlled via MIDI, what is everyone thinking about using and why?

The faderfox group of controllers are great and tiny and would suit as a controller, not sure about a complete controller for INT mode tho.

Maybe the kontrol DJ thing kontrolprodj.com ... except the mixer section is essentially useless.

Just to be clear - im thinking of a MIDI controller for the vinyl DJ user.

digital_steve - the Faderfox LX2 looks kinda cool.... its got enough buttons for everything.... have you had any experience with any of these?

Yeah, they're great controllers. Not to small.
They don't use a USB connection tho, just the good ol' style 5 pin MIDI port.

what would be an ideal controller for setting up cue points and loops to perfection and with the most ease? I'm looking to use that minaly

same with me - i would love a controller which could basically be positioned on top on any mixer (for when you DJ at clubs or whatever) and have direct access to all the buttons you need etc. the problem with most other controllers is that you would probably have to position them on the side.

The faderfox would be the way to go for loops and cue points.

An M-Audio Trigger Finger would work well with Serato too...
