Using SSL for the first time at a Gig!?!?

Certified Quality Entertainment 5:42 PM - 1 March, 2007
I am so up in the air on whether to use SSL this weekend for my gig. Its an afternoon Christening party. Should be really simple, but it would be my first time out with SSL. I don't have all my music on there yet, but I do have more than enough to get through the party. If I don't its going to be a nightmare re-organizing my CD case with.

What to do, what to do!?!?

Use it man. You bought it. If youve used it at home with no issues, You should be ok. The first time can be scary... You have to believe in yourself and have faith. I was nervous too when I first dropped the needle on serato at a gig. To this day, Ive never had a major glitch, cept maybe an rca wire that went bad (non-serato related). Try it.

Go for it! if its an easy gig, all the more reason. plug in the thru line and you'll still be able to use your cd's if you aren't comfortable enough

Do it for sure. Like Audio1 said--you bought it so use it! Plus this is (likely) a much safer environment to get your feet wet than a club rammed with drunken partiers.

Oh yea, this is by far the easiest party to use it for. I probobly wont even take my turntables, Ill take my CD setup and bring maybe bring cds anyway. I have a total of about 18,000 songs. I only have 4,000 loaded onto Serato right now. I'm just afraid that I will start to get requests for the all the songs that are on the 14,000 songs I haven't loaded in yet. I have not had a single problem at home yet. Granted Ive only been able to spin for about 30-40 mins at a time due to my busy schedule, but still not a single issue. I actually just booked this gig yesterday, such a last minute thing thats why I am so up in the air about it.

Use Serato but take SOME CD's just in case. I'm only saying this because you haven't used it longer than 40 mins. But, I believe you'll be alright.

...oh yeah, and as far as requests... take more CD's if you want.

Yea, thats what I was thinking. I have a feeling I am going to use it and then just bring the CD case (whatever I havent imported yet). I think thats the best of both worlds. Now I need a laptop stand!
