most prized vinyl

mister iLL 4:18 PM - 1 March, 2007
for those of you that actually have a vinyl collection, what's some of your most prized wax? meaning rare/o.o.p. stuff that costs a pretty penny and/or is really hard to find these days. there's a ton of repressings available now, so let's only talk about original pressings. Mine include:

jay dee - ruff draft ep
Kool chip + dj chuck chillout - i'm large 12"
saafir - boxcar sessions LP
three times dope - funky dividends 12"

just thinking off the top of my head....
dj cubicle 4:27 PM - 1 March, 2007
I think this isn't really on track, but my "prize" is a 45 of the OLD OLD Detroit Tigers jingle, Go Get Em Tigers.
DjWoody 4:31 PM - 1 March, 2007
Mine is a picture disc of Delerium's Silence... But, it's autographed by Tiesto on one side, Airscape on the other. All I'm missing now, is Sarah McLachlan's signature to make it worth even more.
DJ.ReFRESH 6:08 PM - 1 March, 2007
MJ - Thriller album (Picture disc)
Common - I Used To Love H.E.R. (not rare, but my all time favorite joint)
Slum Village - Fall In Love (test pressing)

I have a 45 of Rhimestone Cowboy!!! Remember the movie high school high??? yeah its that record, ha ha. I forgot where I got it.
Releaux 10:11 PM - 2 March, 2007
No way I can list all of the ones that I'm stoked about, but some high points would be:

I went to this garage sale and started flipping through the box of records marked $1/ea. I had gotten maybe 1/4 through the box and already found like 12-15 records that I wanted, so I asked the guy how much for the whole box. He said $20.

When I got home and went through everything, I found a complete collection of Beatles albums (UK pressings with all included items (posters, cut-outs, etc.). They're in pristine condition and I've never played them. =-)

Sugarhill Gang - Rapper's Delight. First 12" I ever bought (1979 - I was in Jr. High).

Prince - Pretty much every 12" single released between "Let's Work" and "My Name is Prince."

Prince - Lovesymbol shaped vinyl of Sexy M.F.
Sheila E. A Love Bizarre, Glamorous Life
LaTour - Blue (x2 on transparent blue vinyl)
Kraftwerk - Tour de France
Madonna - Picture vinyl with her posing naked from her "Sex" book. Interview b/w "Pussy"
Newcleus - Automan 12"
Tribe Called Quest - I Left My Wallet in El Segundo (on transparent green vinyl)
Information Society - Full set of 12" singles signed by the band.
De La Soul - Me Myself & I. Has interlocked grooves where all of the tracks start at the beginning of the record. Cool gimmick, but a pain for cueing. =-)
DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince - He's the DJ, I'm The Rapper.

And finally, all of the records I had as a kid, including a bunch of Disney records ("Mickey and the Beanstalk," "Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear, Brer Fox," "101 Dalmatians," "Pirates of the Caribbean," etc.). Also some ones like "Acting Out the ABCs" that are a gold mine of sample drops. =-)

Man, I could keep going... lol.
mister iLL 10:20 PM - 2 March, 2007
oh yeah, i forgot about all the childresn stuff...i got a spider man rock/read-along comic book EP. it's dope; i've used it for a bunch of samples.

"Girls Part II" by the B Boys, the infamous colored vinyl, is/was yours blue, green, orange, or red? I heard they also made clear ones but I have never seen them. I used to love the simple cuts on this record, made me feel like star when I took my "Girls Part I" record and imitated them perfectly, LOL.

Good luck mine was blue (shed a tear...moment of silence), it got permanently borrowed, along with the first two DEF Jam Singles (It's Yours, I Need a Beat) Got those back (original copies) but have yet to get find the colored record.

My I Need A Beat has an irreparable scratch on the radio mix version and I've always disliked the scratch party death mix. Just like I hate the zootie mix on I Need A Beat. With editing I've repaired the scratch on I Need A Beat for my digital library.

Adam F. used to tear it up so much more back then! I am not too fond of him going the "Breakbeat Kaos" route (though I do love the label). By the way, I have "Colours" on vinyl.........Greatest DnB artist album of ALL time, in my honest opinion! It had a bit of everything on it.

As for "Valley of the Shadows", is it the original wax, or the one w' the 96' remix on it?
