make sure ur gain knobs are as high as possible but at the same time not enough to turn the (1)*limiter on (ver. 1,7) or lose sound quality (ver. 1.5)* this will ensure that your recording is loud and crisp when played later. you can test this by recording something and then loading the recording into itch u will see the size of the wave thicker or thinner. u want thicker but just enough that u dont do what I mentioned (1)

The record function can be found here. just click with the mouse "rec"

also see this!

In the "setup" > "playback" menu u can select to save to wav 24 bit. (what i use)

then u can use this (free)

download.cnet.com

or this (that has more features) also free

audacity.sourceforge.net

to convert from wav to mp3 an voila. *yes great quality =]

*Note yo can also save to AIFF but I like WAV for no particular reason

But why 24 bits since we use mp3's anyway? What's the difference?

Btw, ITunes converts mp3 also easily, drag it in, covert to mp3 after first optimizing the import setting. When done hit apple-I to fill in all the tags, image and so on

Itunes does not embed the art work with the mp3's! u have to manually get the imagine file from some where and manually add them to the MP3's!

But where / how do I find the recording?

From the manual:

Recordings Save Location

Recordings are saved to your hard drive, and are available to be used as you would any other audio file on your computer.
Recordings are saved in the following hard drive locations on your computer.
• MyDocuments > MyMusic > Serato > Recording (PC)
• Users > Music > Serato > Recording (Mac)

TIP If you exit Serato DJ without saving your recording, it will be stored in the “Recording temp” folder instead.

Note: Serato also make "recording"-crate to your library.
