I saw the thread somewhere but lost sight of it. Is this possible.
If so do I need additional software? 17" Macbook Pro I-7
I would like to live feed a picture in picture on the vsl so you can see the tables or whatever the camera is pointed at comes on the screen with the video. Possibly a different web cam or even better a video camera.
Would be sick if the iphone 4 video conferencing could blutooth to the macbook to do the picture in picture.
Had to add this... Someone needs to be slapped. t3chh3lp.com

ME has 2 hidden features that lets you use a webcam of fw output on ME main output. it's not pip, but with the right effect or transition it can be pip (two up, etc). the first hidden feature just let's you output the cam. the second let's you buffer the cam so that you can scratch, backspin, etc).
i'm not sure if you can use camtwist to output the cam to vsl output.

So how does CamTwist work with VSL?with camtwist you you can use the output from VSL to output to a window and add a small pip in the corner with a webcam input

Thanks Nyce...I have the one that is not buffered didn't know about the buffered one. Somebody told me that the other day and I was like that means that it would be recording in order for you to do that. send me the link to the buffer plugin..
As far as cam twist I have only used it on the internet and it does all of that. Never thought to out put it to second screen... Yet I don't think it will work like that.

the only way to get vsl and webcam pip in camtwist is to choose desktop and webcam pip in camtwist. for desktop you have to choose the 2nd monitor to get the vsl output. if you preview this it looks great right. so how do you get camtwist to show up on the 2nd monitor?
camtwist is used by whatever application by selecting camtwist as the video source. because there isn't anything that lets you select camtwist the only thing you can do is go full screen in camtwist.
you can't go full screen in the main lcd or you won't be able to see ssl. so you go full screen on the 2nd monitor.
first thing. vsl output is not moving (don't know why) and the video quality looks like shit.
i've tried desktop+ as well. same situation and the performance is horrible. also if you try camtwist with just webcam pip and go full screen. camtwist covers up the vsl output even if select clear background, change scale, position, etc..
the output quality of camtwist is just sheer garbage. even if i could overlay my webcam in camtwist i would not use it. works fine for ustream tho.

i also gave it a try with pip. pip lets you just drag the webcam to the 2nd monitor. two issues tho. you can't use full screen vsl and anywhere the pip window overlaps the vsl output there is some soft of flickering going on.

So from my understanding. . . there is no possible way (as of yet) to run a separate video input source (via ext. camera) and have it play with VSL or ME so that i could pan the crowd and have them see it through the final output onto the TVs?
This feature would be sweet, id love to have a camera on the crowd and be able to display it while mixing videos

Me does this with usb cam or in some cases camcorder cameras. U can also do this with Quartz in VSL. I know how to do the ME side but the VSL side I have never done. I think with me if your Computer see it you can display it.

Exactly where Im trying to go with it. Would be sick if the Iphone 4 video conferencing could bluetooth it to macbook on a wifi network. Walk the crowd and put them on screen. Although it could start an amatuer girls gone wild.

ME can use your webcam, but it's not pip. it's either left deck or right deck. you can do something like pip using a transition with the fader in the middle.
in vsl there doesn't seem to be a good way to get a webcam and vsl output at the same time without using an external video mixer or pip function of the monitor itself. i mean don't get me wrong for streaming to ustream camtwist does the trick. but for a projector or lcd...cancel christmas.
for a webcam to work properly the feature needs to be inside vsl. 3rd party tools don't appear to work well with the vsl output window.

Also wanted to throw this out there. The projector i hook up to at the club is a Dell, I remember on the remote there's a switch for PIP not sure how this would work but check your 2nd display.

You would have to hook up the cam to another input on the secondary display and set the pip to that input. You would have to control it with the second display remote.
I havent had too much time to dig into all of this but its on one of my to do lists.
When running several displays Im assuming you can run the pip on the secondary display then run outs from there to the rest of the tvs instead of vsl directly to all tvs. Probably a drop in quality.

Thanks for the info. DJ NYCE. Can you please tell me what file you are dragging into the ME display screen to get it to show up on Left or Right Deck. I watched your youtube video several times and I can't seem to make out the name of that file and i've looked in the same ME folder and can't find that file. Please help! haha...Thanks & Merry Christmas!
