Need help with new TTM-57. Track jumping to where needle is on control vinyl.

I've had someone show me the basics of serato but now I have my own and I'm a little lost. When the vinyl is spinning and I go to drop a track it immediately starts playing halfway through the song or at the end of the song. I want to set it to where I drop a track and it starts playing at the beginning regardless of where the needle is on the control vinyl. I'm sure thats what it was doing when I had lessons. Can anyone help me?

ABS mode, is like using real vinyl. In ABS mode if you needle drop at the beginning the song will be true to the position on the control record.
REL mode will play your file regardless what the position on the vinyl is. Load a track and it will load it at the beginning or first cue point (depending on your settings). Also, if you scratch in this mode, it won't skip if the needle does.
ABS mode is more of an emergency mode. If you need to dust your needle or clean the vinyl in a hurry.
I'd suggest you experiment with each mode and use whatever feels more confortable to you. I prefer ABS mode cause it's like using real vinyl and that's how I started.
