Hi
I have searched through forums and found no reference to the question i am about to ask!
I have been a regular user of Final Scratch Live now for 3years and while i find the product amazing i keep on having issues with my beats going out of sync and i am continually having to play with the pitch on my Turntables. I like to do long mixes and most of the times i loose confidence because i am always working the pitch.
Is it possible to create a Beat Lock mechanism for serato, where once you have the beats lined up and you have them playing at the same tempo you can hit the beat lock button and it will hold the beats together.
For instance if i have track one playing and i have track 2 cued & ready to go, now soon as i drop in track 2 & i see the beats are lined up i hit the Beat lock button and it holds the beats together.
Also I would like to see subcrates within crates, what I mean is when I import folders into FS I normally have sub folders in my main folder & I would like those mp3’s to stay in there respective sub folders and not be jumbled together in 1 crate
EG:
In Windows
Tunes A – Main Folder
0 Sub Folder A: Deep House mp3s
0 Sub Folder B: Tech House mp3s
0 Sub Folder C: Funky House mp3s
Imported Into Final Scratch Live Becomes
Tunes A – Main Crate
0 Sub Crate A: Deep House mp3s
0 Sub Crate B: Tech House mp3s
0 Sub Crate C: Funky House mp3s
So if you double click on a crate it will expand to show any sub crate you have & within and those sub crates will have your mp3's
I hope this all makes sense.
I think these will be worthy additions to an already great product. Perhaps you can bring it out in your next release?
Thank You
Kind Regards
PhatBlankZ

...wow.
Do you mind if I ask how long you've been "DJ-ing"? (not a slam, just curious)
To the SSL point - personally (and again, this is not an attack, simply an opinon/perspective) I do not want to see time and effort put into anything of the sort. To me (again, opinion) SSL is a tool for DJs; "DJs" meaning practiced at the very basic rudiments of blending, beatmatching, beat-juggling, key-matching/adjusting, live-filtering, etc... all to make a live experience enjoyable for an audience.
IMHO, the more "features" that are added that take away from these very basic skills of DJing, the closer this gets to a glorified, hands-off MP3 player; i.e. NOT a DJ tool. To me, that is a very annoying prospect at the very least (many users are waiting for more TOOLS, not crutches, to be integrated into SSL - such feature suggestions only detract from that goal IMO); and a dangerous prospect in perhaps many respects (Rane/Serato have a role in the industry based on such tool creation - could very easily be damaged if they were somehow convinced to go the "MP3-player" route - again, an opinion, and not that they ever would anyway).
I don't want to be harsh to anyone, please don't take any of this personally - but I feel it has to be said ..."If you want a jukebox, go to a local bar - If you want to DJ ...work for it." I only say these things out of a sense of protection for a TOOL that I've invested more than just money in, is all. If I've misread/misunderstood something, right me for sure; I would really just hate to see SSL somehow "degraded" into a simple player. DJing is DJing, DJ-tools are DJ-tools.
Again, seriously nothing personal PhatBlankZ; nice to meet you, welcome to the forums.

.........Wow!!! what the f!"k does it matter how long i have been Djing u Tonto, i keep forgetting how ANAL people can be on these forums, to answer your question Sojourn to how long have i been Djing.
10yrs
7yrs on 12 inch vinyl
3yrs on Final scratch
Clubs played @
-------------------------------------
6yrs Djing in London
Funky Trolley - London
Ministry of Sound - London
Pacha - London
The End - London
Notting Hil street Carnival - London
Passion FM - London
lots of other minor clubs in London
4 years in Durban South Africa
3-30 - DBn South Africa
Pop Art Cafe - Dbn South Africa
Tilt -Dbn South Africa
Panama Room - Dbn South Africa
looking at opening my own club now in Durban just trying to source investment.
I hope my experiance meets up to your lofty expectations...
seeing that we are all asking silly questions here - how long have you been Djing m8
------------------------------------
I am not looking for some Auto mix button, because that would detract from the skill of beat mixing. but in my experiance of using vinyls i have never had the fluctuations i experiance with FS, yes there are fluctuations while using 12 inch vinlys but no where near as bad as the fluctuations that i experiance in FS.
All i am suggesting is once you have beat matched the 2 songs using the good old ear method (which is how i beat mix) you then hit the beat lock button and it holds the beats together.
Surely the individual users out there should be given the choice to use the beat lock button, if you dont like it dont use it, yeah simple as that m8.
Dude i have been a member of the forums 4 ages(just not always under the name of PhatBlankZ) but thanks for the welcome, makes me feel warm & fuzzy inside - the reason you dont see much of because i dont come to ad bits of useless information - i come here when i need too!
Thank your for the mini lecture on how Dj,blending, beatmatching, beat-juggling, key-matching/adjusting, live-filtering, etc...
i already feel like a better DJ just from reading that.
oh and nothing personal m8y nice to meet you too ^_^
nik39 if you are in windows & your right click on a folder and you got to explore you are then able to expand and collapse the folders - this is what i am on about when i talk about subcrates.

@PhatBlankZ:
Easy easy - no one's looking for the long answer or the resume.
No lecture (mini or otherwise) intended ...to anyone. Hence the "opinion" everywhere in the post (man, thought that covered it).
As stated above, all was/is o pin ion. If you read the average post(s) throughout these boards they lean toward the quick and misunderstood - no matter how you pad the post. Very easy to fear for the worst in creative/collaborative-suggestion as these forums are open to any and all abilities and ideals (hence the Q in the first place).
Not at all a question of "ability" as much as motive, as I thought was clear - never meant to slam (didn't I say that ...several times?).

A: Since '94 - all vinyl, all US (until the past couple of years' exposure to digital systems via clubs/friends & several months of owning SSL).

Again, again - no slams ...just simple questions and motive pursuits. Try not to take it personally. Not about resumes, was just a simple question in conjuction with your ("odd"-again opinion) suggestion. Chill. No offense intended, not even intended as the deep Q. ...based on the suggestion, thought it was a "fair question".
Suggestion forum means "suggestions", all good and would never not encourage that - just worry about the direction of SSL, as I'm sure we all do ...hope that's understandable/acceptable.

also have not experinced any extreme fluctuation in SSL as of yet - at least not as much as FS when I used friends'/clubs' systems.
opinion: SSL seems to have a much better lock in general on the digital versions of "wow" in my experience. No more difficult (in my own experience) than standard vinyl to bring into match.

how have you been using fs for three years?
This defies logic. I can never keep it open longer that 30 minutes. After I found out there was no tech support I just quit trying.
Needless to say, I am very impressed!
Sounds like you are serious about your career, It is my huble opinion that you should definitely upgrade your digital playback device to SSL. You will love it, and if there are features missing that your looking for, it is only a matter of time until it gets released as an update.(free)
cheers!
