Anybody used the Mac Mini?
I'm thinking of buying one to use for SSL, and audio apps, like Reason, Logic.
Will they be able to handle it?

mac mini should work fine. i have serious doubts that you'll be able to mix videos with it. also, not the most portable choice.

I don't DJ out, just for home use, i'm looking to venture into macs basically :)
Just wondering if people have experiences with the new minis, and if they are worth it?

Really? I think it's called mac mini for a reason. lol
But seriously, it's very portable. You'd have to find a slim and very portable monitor though.

It will work just fine for SSL. The only issue that might come up is if you want to use it for video when 1.8 comes out. Then new mini only has 64mb of shared video ram. Other than that the thing should rock. Like 45 said it will work great with logic.

Mac Mini works great with Logic and SSL. I run both on a PPC Mac Mini while using a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I actually do take it out with me, the flat screen is the most awkward thing to take (and it's not THAT bad, especially compared to carrying crates)

I use a mac mini, flat panel monitor and bluetooth keyboard and mouse and has performed flawlessly night after night. The nice thing about it is u can have your monitor and keyboard anywhere. You are not restricted to having them both in the same place. Lots of dj booths are small so this way you can adapt easily. I hardly use my keyboard anyways since I have the 57. I'm glad I went the mac mini route rather than a laptop.

swanski, how do you transport??
I gave away my mac mini because I couldnt transport it easy. and with the power converter it was too bulky

I have 2 gym style bags. The mac mini fits into a headphone bag, believe it or not. One gym bag is for cables, needles, tools, mickeys, mics. The other is just for the flat panel monitor, the mini, keyboard, mouse and external drives.
