As a Baltimore head, born, raised, and still living in Baltimore.... Though I sometimes get nostalgic and throw down some Balto Club, I got to admit I'm not real big on the style. I don't *not* like it, I just need to be in that mood. But growing up in this city I got to say it's sweet seeing it take off the way it is.
I remember hearing Charles Feelgood drop some club into his mixes at Fever some years ago, and a lot of the rave heads were getting upset. I couldn't understand it man, so what if it wasn't house, it's Baltimore culture and it's dance music.
Just curious though, I see a lot of people mis-label Percolator as Baltimore Club, even heads here in Baltimore. Why is this? Percolator is a house track, not Baltimore Club. It definitely got a lot of play here, and it's a dope track for sure, but Cajmere is a Chicago head and that track is house. Not saying a Chicago head can't write Baltimore club, but Percolator doesn't even have the same beat structure as Baltimore club. Same with Follow me, classic house music for sure and again, great track (check out the Frankie Bones remix), but not Balto club.
Thanks for posting the mix matt, I'll check it out soon. And I'm not calling you out or anything regarding those tracks, just throwing it out for discussion.

Well, to everyone who I should send "checks in the mail", I promise I got you!
Yes, my site needs major improvement. I'm well aware of many things I'd like to improve. In fact, I'd like to scrap the majority of the site and start over with a geeked-up vBulletin set-up. The problem is a lack of funds.
So, if my site is so annoying, why do I have so many new members per day? I ask myself that, sometimes. I believe the answer has to do with prayer and all the music I put on the site.
In fact, if I could just do the site, I'd probably have 50+ .mp3's 6 days/week.
We're blessed every day. I never have a problem receiving music. The problem is a lack of time to put them on the site. The process takes hours and hours.
I put a PayPal donate button on the site, and nobody, except three people have donated.
So, why don't I just charge the labels or the DJ's?
--If I charged labels, the amount of music would go down very quickly, plus I'd post songs much later.
--If I charged DJ's, I'd be just a "record pool" site, and this vision of a massive DJ coalition would be impeded. Currently, we're at around 800 members, and quickly growing.
To those who are waiting for approval, please forgive the delay. I plan to work on that tomorrow, while preparing to move to another state.

Yeah alot of people mislabel the Cajmere as a Baltimore track, but it goes along so good don't you agree. lol It wouldn't be a set without those classic pre Bmore tracks like the Percultor, Follow Me and Hot Music. That Chicago House and Bmore club has ties. I'm happy to see it start to take off too, but it seems like everybody coming into the scene now is doing Bmore mashups. I don't know how Bmore people are feeling about it, but down here in VA, you can't play some of that new stuff and pass it off as Bmore Club tracks. No disrespect to those doing it, but it's not the same.
Now, if we can only get Go-Go that get that same push. haha

"follow Me" is so classic it's not funny. I had the privilege of working with "Super," the first of two singers on the track.
I lost contact with him. That brother can seriously sing like few people I've heard. He was a very cool person.

Clark... Don't get offended my dude... I just said it was unorganized - which it is. If I go there to look for specific track, it's next to impossible to do. Try it and see.
I'm not following your logic about your member numbers. What does that have to do with the organization of your site? The only thing that matters is the music you offer - that's the purpose of the site. But we just wanna be able to get to it and not get frustrated and give up, you know?

yeah homey same with me.
Didnt mean to say anything bad, Im just saying when we gotta look thru 200 pages of tracks and still cant find what we are looking for it gets to be a pain.
I will gladly donate chedd, as long as I can find what I am looking for, which has not been an easy task. I really really appreciate that you even have such a site and I am sure once you get it organized people will donate alot more then people have presently.
again thanks for the site.

Why don't you two visit this site:
www.rif.org
... because "Reading is Fundamental!"
How did I come off offended? If anything, I clowned MY site and ME.
Yes, I greed that the site's functionality sucks. It annoys me, too. What, do you want me to argue with you? Sorry, I agree with you. The layout sucks, but I have mad quality joints, especially when I choose to lose enough sleep to place songs.
No, I don't agree that if the site was perfect, that more people would donate. Gigabytes of files are downloaded every day for free, without donations, and without the functionality being the way it should. The songs still play.
People just want to take, take, take, and not even give feedback. Out of 800+ members, I'd say about estimate there are four regular feedback givers.
Do you really want me to charge labels so I can give you a few old tracks every week? I'm sorry, that's not my plan.
It's easy to look a gift horse in the mouth. Have you paid a dime? The site is free. I can even live without donations. I'm appreciative for the $20 in donations I've received.
Sorry, I don't have a drug habit or kids, so if a large group of people wanted to donate, I'd put it toward the site. I've already put a few years of my life and over 5.4k to the site.
I'm sorry if I can't hold your hand. Yes, if I can get my finances right, I'll improve the site. A big part of me wants to sink tons of money in the site, then make it a pay site for people who have not seemed to research the industry, yet tell me what I need to do with my site.
Let me see you do better.

DJ Clark; I just registered using my username here and I look forward to the music offered. I will gladly donate once I am officially a member. I am a serious B-More House Music lover. Not too many Northern VA people can get with it but its catching on. If only 92.3 had better reception here it would catch on more. I would happily agree to paying a monthly fee for site maintenance and tracks. A large majority of people want something for nothing and a lot will critize and not pay. The same goes for DJ'ing. No matter how low you go on a price someone will still try to get you lower and complain about something. You can't win no matter how hard you try. You can't please everyone no matter how good you or your work is.

I kinda feel where smutek was coming from. Born and raised here, but I don't play it like I used to in/a little after high school. I try to work the more "grown up" parties where we don't have to play it like that, and we usually don't.
Technics' site is really on the half. It could be MUCH MUCH better for someone that offers so much. The tracks played on 92Q are usually hoarded by a select group of DJs. It's been like that for years, but they would eventually release tracks on vinyl. Now, there's no common place for people to buy tracks and THAT is the BIGGEST problem to me. Everyone and their uncle who is a fan (all over the world, mind you) makes remixes of tracks with no "one" place to go get em. Not to mention, when I DO listen to the radio (which isn't often), they don't play tracks such as those requested in this thread.
Another site to check out is www.unrulyonline.com Scottie's site is somewhat better than Technics' but I'm not sure if you'll find ALL those new remixes you're looking for. You'd probably be better off "internet digging" or searching through Low Budget's forum. It's kinda sad, but that's how it is....

I don't want anyone to think I was complaining for money, though... even though that's why I'm preparing to move to another state--to make money--to do a non-music entertainment job. (ARGH!)

People just want to take, take, take, and not even give feedback. Out of 800+ members, I'd say about estimate there are four regular feedback givers.
I try to give feed back when i can... but lot of times i am downloading ow and listening l8r (when i got time) and its sometimes hard to find all the tracks on the site to rate them afterwards... but i do rate them when i ge the chance... maybe you can add a preview function one day that you can use to preview the track b4 you download and rate the track so that way you can rate the track without downloading it... I would give alot more feed back. Clark you know I'm not bitching about it.. i lub your site.... just a little constructive feed back!

I do appreciate your constructive criticism. It's much better than no activity.
A preview button is something I've always wanted.
The problem is I hit an all-time low, financially, right before the site was completed. Also, I charged $15/mo/person, except BDS radio people and celebrity DJ's, when I started.
I could only get a few people to pay. $45/mo wasn't worth it. My dream was always to have a large, powerful DJ coalition, not a little "record pool site." I wanted the site to be THE place for labels and DJ's to meet for their promotional needs--the "myspace" of record promotions.
If people didn't want to pay, and there were other sites that didn't charge, I had to remove the payment barrier. So, I tried to extract money from labels in other ways.
I learned that labels aren't as prone to spend money as they used to be. Yet, labels aren't known to be promotions braniacs, either. They tend to think like herd animals.
Ex.: If Major Label X knows of a popular promotions resource that has an e-mail mailing list of 500 DJ's, they'll more likely pay them to do an e-mail blast for $1500 than someone like me who would charge a fraction of that with a 30k+ e-mail list, and approximately 15k DJ's.
Labels commonly give money to popular resources that do nothing for them, and ignore the less popular resources that would benefit them.
So, since I'm still broke, I'm grinding to make money to improve the site.
This is very important for those who'd like to benefit the site:
Do you think we should build on the (ColdFusion) set-up we have, while improving the appearance...
OR
... scrap most of the site, then re-build with a customized vBulletin set-up?
(For those that don't know, vBulletin is a very popular forum software suite that is very customizable.
Here are examples:
www.mikafanclub.com (No, I don't know this artist, but the layout is good.)

He gave me a beat CD, once. His tracks are sick!
I remember he was using an SP-1200, not too long ago, I think.
Klev is super kool to everyone, so, yeah, hit him up.
