VCI 300 MKII, what about the VCI 300??

MiOzIgo 8:44 AM - 30 July, 2010
hoi,
just hear that a new VCI is coming out to resolve some issues on the first VCI 300.
i think the crossfader issue and the headphone volume would be resolved in the MKII.
What happens now for users of the first VCI 300 that have this problems(crossfader, no headphone in windows when ussing as a soundcard, headphone volume..)?
Would this be fixed or do we buy the new VCI 300MKII?
There was a firmware update coming to solve the issues , but now they make a new VCI!!!
What gonna happend???
Please let me know?
greetz
Kmxorbit 8:54 AM - 30 July, 2010
I'm not sure, but I really do believe the MKII has better components to resolve these issues. I don't think a firmware update will help the older models to resolve these issues.

actually it was posted a while back that it was a hardware issue that firmware cannot fix. and the headphone issue in windows maybe a windows thing not a vci-300 thing

kraal, you mean this issue not occure with mac OS?
i switched from xp to w7 and i can't use headphone if i use the vci 300 in windows as a soundcard.
before firmware update, i had headphone (both channels) on xp, but only speakersound at 1 channel (left) (that's firmware or driver)
what do you suggest for the crossfader, do i put the screws on or could there be a possibility that you can switch to other crossfader (by mounting crossfader of the new vci 300) (if available)
kraal 6:10 PM - 30 July, 2010
it seems the design of the other cross fader doesnt match the current one..... I put the screws in and i am happy with that..... I doubt i will but another vci-300 unless it has extra features.
SAGAT 9:16 AM - 31 July, 2010
i agree with Kraai. i wont buy another vci. I recon buying a new vci-300 is a lack of care from serato to us owner of vci-300.
Marketing is the only objectif of serato for me.
first why they didnt simpley make another crossfader that suit the old one with a new sensor that suit our old vci-300.
i dont see the big difference between the mk2 and the first one so if they wanted to fix the problem we have, they could simply build part to put in the old vci then it will be easy for all of use to move on.
by doing that serato dont lose money anyway. new costumer will buy the new one. old costumers will buy parts. and you get money both ways.
i wish the new fader could fit in the old one.
because by using a spare mixer and screw in the fader you atualy overcome most of the problem the vci got.
since i Dj the vci-300 is my best purchase and i wish u guys though about helping us upgrade our old vci.
this is desapointing.
thanks for software updapt 5/5...
but for the rest of the vci-300 it's 2.5/5 stars

peace

i just got a second 300 less than 2 mos ago and now u guys put an improved one out
NOT FAIR!!!!
is ther gonna b a trade in program?
especially for the mic issue that is completely ignored
U GUYS GOTTA DO US BETTER THAN THAT
elsupermang 5:17 PM - 31 July, 2010
I dont think it's fair to blame "Serato" for the VCI-300 considering Vestax is the one that designed and manufactured it. Serato just gave them some basic guidelines.
DJdaveZ 5:52 PM - 31 July, 2010
yeah its vestax... i always had a bad opinion on vestax... they make a few things before other companies do, vci 100, 300, vcm 600, then never improve on it.. just keep making things that control other software...

i think numark was pretty on point from start to now on itch hardware...

if i could go back in time i'd go for the ns7 instead of my vci300... but it was more affordable... i dunno...
elsupermang 6:01 PM - 31 July, 2010
I own both, and i love both but i cannot justify upgrading to the MkII unless i somehow sold my vci-300 first. It's kind of broken, potentiometer snapped off and left platter has some dead zones that can be fixed by opening it up. I still rock out with it all handicapped and all haha.

i always thought vestax was on point. :)
the v7 is actually the same as the new vestax it is basically the 'problems' people had with the ns7 re-released
SAGAT 11:17 PM - 31 July, 2010
the best thing serato and vestax should do if they realy think that the support we gave them by buying software, vci-300, vfx-1 give them good money then , they should also give us great product.
First they released vci-300 that was a boom worldwide because we took our own time make videos and put on youtube.
We are all the real promoter of the vci . my video went 3.000.000 view in 2008 with vci until i uploaded a ufc fight on my youtube and my account was cleaned.
but i recon i helped somehow.
then my first vci-300 broke, i bough a second a year and half after because a year and half warranty was over.
so i paid 2400 aus dollards plus 300 for the vfx -1 for 2 vci-300 and one vfx.
then 9 months after you bring a new vci-300 insted of giving us affordable parts to fix our issue.
VESTAX YOU ARE A VERY WRONG COMPANIE. WHY APPLE GO AHEAD BECAUSE THEY DO A GREAT JOB WITH PRODUCT AND SUPPORT . TAKE THEY FIRST IPHONE HE LACKED ON MANY THINGS RIGHT?
so they worked to improve software in less than a year and satisfied buyers, and buyer bough more.
To get money you need to satisfy your costumers vestax and take care of all of them, i don't see myself buy the mk2. i will move back to pioneer maybe. expansive true but maybe they will take care of my 2800 and give me great product... most of the time they do good jobs anyway.
I'm actualy very very desapointed that in almost 3 years, vestax didnt think about making a new crossfader for the vci-300. they could build a sound card part to put in. even an external one will do. also make another platter with stronger sensor.
i will pay for new sensor for 250 or 300 yeah. But i won't spend 1500 for a new vci...
Is anyone think the same or im wrong?
SAGAT 12:43 AM - 1 August, 2010
To resume all the thing.
Vestax should make parts for us owing vci-300 first version.
the new part that we realy need are the audio hardware and sensor a stronger one that we can put inside ourself at home.
and maybe if you guys are happy to make a fader that fits in our vci a better one also we will buy. we need it but don't need mk2, or mk3... it's fucking vestax not pioneer... do the job for once... help us GOD damn it...
you keep us you keep you damn money ...
djstefy74 6:10 AM - 1 August, 2010
Hi guys..but in Vestax catalog there's no an alternative crossfader for change the vci300 original?i think the cf on the vci is a component that its use on some others vestax products or not?4 mixers usually you can change faders\sliders with better others...i hope this is possible with 300 too...

Dj Beware 8:46 AM - 1 August, 2010
@SAGAT

Whats the sensor issue your talking about? On the new MK2 regarding the sensors as I understand it that they just changed the knobs at the back for adjusting the touch sensitivity. I don't believe the sensor is "stronger" on the MK2
SAGAT 10:22 AM - 1 August, 2010
well if u have a vci-300 u may know that u have to clean it everytime....
i though that the fixed the issue....
i think they did when i read it maybe in english i got it wrong again.. lol
Dj Beware 10:52 AM - 1 August, 2010
hmm interesting I have had a VCI 300 since its first release (fall 08), I have never cleaned a thing.....and I use it almost 4 to 5 times a week..........what its it exactly you have to clean and why?
SAGAT 12:21 PM - 1 August, 2010
i don't recon u got the same vci-300 as anyone else tho.because i fixed mine only 3 month after buying it.
i had to go on youtube and follow instruction.
so u never got platter problem...
sensor problem with you vci.
,aybe vestax made one especialy for you i recon
Dj Beware 1:14 PM - 1 August, 2010
No need for the sarcasm....

Maybe you can link the youtube video so it can be seen what your refering to, I am assuming it is the early run of VCI300's that would freeze becuase of the right platter......In any case that issue was supposed to have been resolved long ago, I find it interesting you have to clean your platters or sensor? after every use what is it that you are actually cleaning?

Do others have this issue?
kraal 2:45 PM - 1 August, 2010
dj beware this is the cleaning he is talking about
Watchwww.youtube.com

but honestly i dont see how that is fixed with the new one.... dependong on your environ ment it may or may not need to be done. There was also a mention of sending one to vestax and they told the person that the repair was 'cleaning the unit'
SAGAT 10:27 PM - 1 August, 2010
DJ beware Kraal just sent u a video the right one.
this is what i have to do pretty much every month. i live in australia. my house is not dusty.
but the case of the vci-300 have a space under each platter that allow air flow so dust flow or humidity inside the console.
and that will give u the result of frozen sensor as soon as a little dust touch sensor, that's why i recon a better and stronger sensor should be made.
for people that have this problem im dealing with it now a year and half and it's very very boring.
sometime you don't know that the vci is dirty , and actualy when i say dirty it's like microscopic stuff touching the sensor and that's it... it's all going wrong when u open it there is nothing o clean but still u have to clean it and it work again ...

well they didn realy fix everything on the vci and release
d the mk2 quick but is that eraly fixed the problems we have... many costumers different problems i'm realy looking foward to see what this mk2 is realy even if i won't buy it ...
maybe mk3 will get me... or mk5 with 4 platters control... fader start....ultra pro cross fader... larger platters for easy scratch so the consol a bit bigger just 5 cm bigger will be great...
and more and more lol :=)
MiOzIgo 1:24 PM - 2 August, 2010
gonna put a sticker " MK II " on my VCI and put him on Ebay :-)
can't see it anyway.
maybe i make a price WITH the decksaver , so they really gonna buy!!
lol
SAGAT 12:14 AM - 3 August, 2010
Lol good luck with that
Maskrider 9:42 AM - 3 August, 2010
Usually there is a Vestax representative here that chimes in about Vestax related topics.....I wonder where is he now?
SAGAT 9:50 AM - 3 August, 2010
he won't say nothing because we are all right... they simply had to sell us some upgrade, more things to improve our hardware, and im sure that if they where selling parts that fix the vci-300 there will be more sales and quick than selling a new vci-300 mk2 or whatever.
i dont see many people sell the vci and lose 400 0r 500 and add more money to get the mk2 for only 2 things improved... i recon they will b just idiot to do so.
but im sure that millions of vci-300 users won't mind buy a 120$ cross fader to improve scratch, we will be happy at the same time to get fader start in software.
also if we can use the power supply and maybe have a little external or internal audio card or whatver that boost the sound we will be happy also.
and the last thing is jogwheel cleaning if vestax know about jogplate sensor that freez then why not make a better one and sell...
so much little to do to make people happy... why doing only marketing ...

SAGAT 7:42 PM - 3 August, 2010
U joking man. Come on . It's a sensor man. Nothing else and we are in 2010. Come on Kraal. Stop defending vestax.
I think if the vci got so much problems it's simply because the built was in china. If vestax did the work in japan u will get a high quality vci-300. And thats the truth dude.
They r just careless and don't give a fuck about us.
Serato always work and update software and try to match what people want because they listen and care of costumers dude. If vestax was on the same track u will not b on the forum talking with me.
Believe me
kraal 7:53 PM - 3 August, 2010
the part is a potentiometer... vestax cannot create a greater potentiometer thats all i am saying... and vestax seems to care a lot about dj's i have used vestax products since i started djing.

besides i have zero problems with my vestax.

as far as the jogwheel freezing vestax did fix that issue and they replaced every non working one for free
SAGAT 8:02 PM - 3 August, 2010
Nobody replaced mine yet. I still clean it.
kraal 8:10 PM - 3 August, 2010

well if it is bassed on new electronics (which it seems it is) there is no way to by the parts and retro fit them.... just like the vci-300 is just a midi controller and some leds. there still is more to it to make it work
czar 11:49 PM - 3 August, 2010
INSTEAD OF RETRO-FITTING. NEW PARTS THAT FIT CAN BE BUILT..
KLH 12:24 AM - 4 August, 2010
This thread is kinda ridiculous. If you don't like the original VCI-300, sell it, and get the new Mk2 version. Or better yet, keep the original as a backup.

Or even better still, keep the old, buy a new laptop and a compact mixer and have FOUR DECKS NOW!!!

Awww yeahhhh...

lol if the only thing they changed was the cf they could have made a replacement available. if they didnt is becuase 1) I cannot be done or 2) they want more profit from new unit rather than faders..
KLH 12:37 AM - 4 August, 2010
It's always about the money. At least there are definite improvements... The only thing that I wish that it had would be balanced 1/4" outputs and the aux-in (and gain knob) on the front.

The latter is a preference, but the former (balanced outputs) is actually very important.

With all the buzz on here bout the MKII, I was wondering... I haven't seen a street date announced anywhere yet. Anyone seen something? I'd like to know if we're talking about 3 weeks or like early next year or what.

At this point I am diggin the Allen & Heath (although can't find it available locally either) but unfortunately the jog wheels aren't touch sensitive. Decisions Decisions
MiOzIgo 7:45 AM - 4 August, 2010
i think they gonna release it soon.
But there be a firmware update in a few months.
because it seems custumors got to test the new things from vestax.

Didn't think the mkII had new faders, just that you can upgrade them to the new Vextax Midi faders they have developed (for the new midi mixers, PMC 05 pro4)?
So they will profit from both!

LOL well i opened my vci-300 to day and filled the gap under my jogwheels with a gas mak filter until i find the right filter i want to buy...
this is just a test to see if the dust won't get in it as much as before if the gap under it is filled.
i was thinking also why vestax sisnt just realease something simple to put under the jogwheels to close that gap where most of the dust come from.
the vci-300 only use 5v it can't get that hot...
so i just dont get it

Lol writing with my iPhone is not very good sometime especially when I'm tires lol.
I mean I have found that running my MacBook with more input power by using the 85w power supply the computer run better so itch also. And I can connect vex-1 without bug because the computer can draw more power if needed. I have a 2008 MacBook 2.4ghz.
I have filled my vci anyway. I normaly clean it every month. We will see if this is going to make a difference. The result of my experiment will be in a month or 2.
Peace
SAGAT 2:07 AM - 5 August, 2010
I don't know if u can run windows 7 buy u can run xp in any mac I'm sure .
If your MacBook is using the 60w as original power supply, you can swap to the 80w without problems.
But there is something you must know. The first time you plug the power supply in. You MacBook won't work. So remove the battery . You will see your MagSafe dot turn on. Then put back te battery inside then it will start charging. Simple as that

If you are having to clean your jog wheels all the time, I dont think dust is your problem. I am assuming you are cleaning the flat metal thin copper bar that rubs around the bottom of the brass jog wheel. That copper bar turns black where it rubs on the brass and eventually quits making a good contact. You have to lightly sand that black stuff off until you can see the copper again . You also have to put a small dab of white lithium grease on it to lubricate it and to keep it from turning black. If you don't lubricate it, it will turn black pretty quick and you have to keep cleaning it.
SAGAT 5:04 AM - 5 August, 2010
Well it never turned black brother no corrosion happened in my vci copper. I clean it and it's back to work properly ! Everybody say dust you r the only one I know that mentioned corrosion instead of dust.
SAGAT 5:09 AM - 5 August, 2010
O suppose that if you get corrosion in your vci-300 so u leave in a humide area. And also you don't have your vci in a bag as I do. I clean it less than before since I always have it now in a proper vci bag.
And I'm 100 percent sure I never touched anything else than dust inside mine. I recon for metal to corrode u need humidity or 2 different metal where one is attracting the second metal atone or whatever it's build with. If vestax didn't think about using the same metal to avoid corrosion then that's stupid
MiOzIgo 7:13 AM - 5 August, 2010
hey, did anyone see that??

www.planetdj.com

should this work or is it fake??
Panotaker 7:23 AM - 5 August, 2010
Well corrosion was probably the wrong word on my part, I just didn't know what else to call it. Are you putting lithium grease on it after you clean it? If not, it will eventually quit making contact due to the two different metals rubbing against each other. It came with a small drop of grease on there from the factory. The first time you clean it, you end up wiping off all the grease. I only had to clean mine once, but I greased it when I got done. All you need is a small spot of grease, just enough to coat it.

Just looked at it.. but i never heard of it?
witch fader is this one and when was it made?
Panotaker 1:01 PM - 5 August, 2010
Another thing that may be causing your player to need constant cleaning is that the flat copper bar may need to be bent a little so it rubs against the brass shaft a little harder. Not too much or it will make your platter harder to turn.
SAGAT 4:48 AM - 6 August, 2010
