Forum Search Needs Work

Lately I've found myself trying to dig up some answers on the forum, and its downright painful!!!!!
Searching forum at Serato.com & ScratchLive.net is beyond tedious, trying to finagle the engine with your search terms is useless, it just spits out more responses. The inability to use the usual keywords (AND, NOT), quotes for phrases, and other common search tools really hampers trying to find relevant results.
The ability to limit results by time range (or better SSL version number) would also really help finding useful results.
The ability to change the sort order depending on different criteria, and also Display All Results; would really help.
The forum is the best / only resource, but it just feels so cluttered!

Hi adb3, sorry to hear that it's difficult for you.
What have you had trouble finding?
What search tool would help you the most - keywords or quotes?

A hierarchy (tree) of tags which are user somewhat moderated. Start with / model it on all the support requests, of the modern style, that would provide way more detailed troubleshooting path. I'd guess it stems from a lack of subforums.
next Forum ONLY search (more static e.g. history friendly).
THEN keywords.
but that's just my list of priorities. Are you in charge of maintaining the forum board / CMS... The fact that its all in-house is kind of impressive!

Sounds good, although I'm not sure what you meant by:
You're right, we made the forum in house, which has it's pros and cons. We have a dedicated separate team working on our websites.

history friendly = not AJAX / history JS
If your searching thru only the forums and there are 20+ forum results, hitting back on #11 takes you back to page 1. Only a nuance for 70+...
Oh, the term '68' should return results for "sixty eight" and vice versa. Which is official?

Fair call on the back button breaking, that's not helpful.
68 / sixty-eight - good point. It's officially the Rane Sixty-Eight: serato.com

(with capslock).
Thankfully not - although early in it's life cycle (pre-release), it was referred to as the SIXTY-EIGHT.

+1 for improvements to this forum's search engine/behaviour. It's one of the best for information about SSL, but one of the worst for finding it.
