Yet another iTunes problem (Gapless playback).. what to do?

Okay so it hangs on a song that I do not want to delete. There's still no way to disable it huh? Or at least only determine it for songs that actually need it?
I would downgrade iTunes but you need it for purchasing and updating iPods/iPhones. Also gapless playback is great cuz it works in other programs too, like you can set it in iTunes and it'll work in Windows Media Player.
If Serato could just fix the simple problem of certain tags not being remembered (specifically the year tag, and yes I have all overviews built, duh), thus making the Smart crates actually worthwhile, I would gladly switch to Serato only and only use iTunes for purchasing or updating an iPod/iPhone.
