So i've been in the market for a used set up and found what I believe to be a really good deal, technics mk3's, with Roger Sanchez Stanton Trackmaster cartages,Behringer scratch mixer(vmx 100),two gemini speakers,One Pyramid Amp,with coffin,Tripod speaker stands and cables. he was asking 1500, but I got him down to 1,000, my question is, is this to good to be true? should I be worried?
Also he said the turntables were the technics mk3's, which I believe are discontinued now, right? I've tried to do some research on them and havent found much out, how are the mk3's? I really dont know much about equipment and dont want to get ripped off, so any help or insight anyone has for me would be awesome. thanks. peace

most i would spend on used decks is $150 each unless they are really new, is everythig else worth $700? I would wait, I dont know the quality of the gemini speakers or pyramid amp but at PSSL you can get a pair of yamaha 15" & a qsx plx 1804 for about $1200, yamaha's come with a 3 year warranty & qsx is 6 if you register it.

that's alot of gear for $1000 - you will have enough to rock out... and def have a starting point to start swapping out for better gear as more cash rolls in. decks and mixer alone would be worth $400-500 pending condition. needles $0 And the rest is pretty crappy to say the least... but it's a start. Do you need all that stuff? I'd get the decks, mixer, needles as a throw in and learn to mix from a home stereo.. then go buy a NEW sound system in the near future.

so you think the mixer and the mk3's together should only be 500?
are the technics 1200 mk3's any good? I can't find much out about them online

i think it may be just a little high used technics will run you about 250 to 300 remember there used and if there selling real cheap u may want to know what signs to look for. but usually 250 to 300 each is decent if there in good condition. the mixer is probably 100.00 at most i cant see it at 150.00 even in great condition. the coffin maybe 50-100 dollars depends what kind and condition. the stand 25-50 bucks depends what kind also. now the speakers and amp i would say if your just starting out than get them i started off with some cheap speakers they got me by i made money with them dont get me wrong but i just turned around and bought better ones after money started flowing. so now i use them for monitor speakers. and just extras. i paid 500x2 for pair jbl tr-125series 15". and i also have a pyramid amd i bought off ebay for i think like 160 at the time it works great for me and as a matter of fact its 2 amps in on it has an a amp and a b amp swtich so i usually just use the A amp and the b could be a back up i guess. so if you think about it
technics=500 to 600
mixer=100
coffin = 70
stand=40
that right there is 700 to 800 plus the speakers and amp together are worth 300 im pretty sure i mean even if there not the best just so long as u get a decent sound and there loud enough to rock a small party since your starting out i dont think you should worry to much about big gear. just gear thast works right. id say see if you can haggle him take maybe 850.00 to 900.00 in cash and see if you can work a deal out go for it bro there is no need for you to spend big bucks yet know when you get the hang of it and start booking gigs and seeing potential buisness than make bigger investments and the jobs you book will be bigger pay outs.
