Should you tell your significant other what to do/not to do with her own body?

This was JohnnyM's response in the tattoo thread:

But let's put it in the entire context of what I said....
You said
And I said
I had a fight with my wife once because she got a belly piercing on a whim with her girlfriend. I was mad that she would not be setting a good example for our young daughters if they saw it.
Long story short, she had to get rid of it because of various reasons, but if we didn't have kids, or weren't married, I might not have minded.
So the Generalistic view you created by taking a snippet of what you thought I meant is off.
You said
Quote:
Johnny..... Your wife asks for permission about something to do with her body? And I said
Quote:
For something like that, YES. I think there is a reasonable expectation that if you date a woman, and she is of a certain shape, carries herself a certain way, speaks a certain way, and you then marry that woman, that they maintain what attracted you to them, as YOU should maintain what attracted them to you.I had a fight with my wife once because she got a belly piercing on a whim with her girlfriend. To which he responded:

To which he responded:
Misspelling irreversible in the way. hahahaha
But yeah, you get the point.
I think it's great consulting with your significant other ESPECIALLY if you're married or have a long term partner or you think your gf (or bf) will be someone for the long term.

No. My interpretation of your first comment was on point that's why I followed with different questions. I didn't come out and say... YOU OWN HER. I asked questions.
I'm PRO-Choice too... but, do you have the right to tell your woman to get an abortion?

I'm going to answer my own question... whether legally isn't set up that way and I think it should be!!!
If you get a girl pregnant, the TWO OF YOU should decide whether to keep the baby or not.
If you want to keep it and she doesn't, tough luck.
If she wants to keep it and you don't, she shouldn't be able to get child support out of it.

Answer the question...
Also, I think the whole tattoo issue is not a life altering choice. You can always get tattoos removed. Yeah. They're expensive but, hey, did you even discuss that with your wife? Or did you flat out say "No." I think that's what you did.... just like when you TOLD her to get rid of the piercing and you probably threw a fit and she HAD to because of your machismo.

If her "image" would have an impact on the kids, I definitely have a word on what she can and can't do with her "own" body.
She can't be walking around dressed like a Bratz doll, or smoking, or wearing hoochie gear or any of that stuff, as that would adversely effect the upbringing of the kids.
Just as I can't be coming' in drunk, cussin' stinky, and walking around with my pants sagging.
These are all reasonable expectations that you can exercise over your mate if you have children in the mix.

But I can see both of you knowing not to go to the extreme. You're describing extremes. A single tattoo won't make you look hoochie or whatever. Especially if it's hidden from public view. So, I think you just told her No. No matter what. lol

That is your "opinion" of a single tattoo.
I know LOTS of people who would never mark their body because they think it's unnecessary, a fad, and why spend money to get something erased that you shouldn't have done permanently in the 1st place?

Is it really an opinion of a single tattoo or a bunch of excuses from you from a single tattoo?
A single tattoo won't change who you are. You're telling me that if you put a single dot. Yes. a single dot qualifies as a tattoo as you're SUPPOSEDLY PERMANENTLY marking your body in the first place - You're telling me that a single dot would change who you are?
It probably won't be seen by the world. Most people would think it's a mole... unless you have it a gang related place....
Either way, stop with the excuses. :)

If you get a girl pregnant, the TWO OF YOU should decide whether to keep the baby or not.
Agreed
If you want to keep it and she doesn't, tough luck.
Tough luck for WHO? Does this mean she's getting rid of it regardless? Or does this mean she should keep it, but let YOU be totally responsible?
If she wants to keep it and you don't, she shouldn't be able to get child support out of it.
This is the biggest COP-OUT I've ever heard, and I can't stand it.
If you and said chick lay down, you BOTH are basically entering into a contract which says SHE MIGHT GET PREGNANT, so you should figure out what you two would do IF such a pregnancy should occur, and discuss it BEFORE you start banging out.
If you both come to terms, then abide by them, If you CAN'T reach an agreement of what would happen IF she got pregnant, than don't sleep together.
Now, say you skip over that and just bang out ANYWAY, and she DOES get pregnant.
If she wants to keep it, TOUGH LUCK for the DUDE, because he had "Control" of the situation 1ST by choosing NOT to lay down with the chick.
The minute he slipped his sausage inside her, he effectively transferred his "Control" of the situation to HER, end of story.
Anything else is BS.

I agree with this, BUT - Men need to REALIZE that THEY are initially the one's in CONTROL. They can either roll the dice, and sleep with the chick, hoping she doesn't get pregnant, come up with an agreement that they BOTH will abide by, or he can step away from the situation before banging out.
Like I said, once he passes that CONTROL to her, that's it. If a baby comes, tough nuggies for him, he has to pay up.
That's the price that comes with being THE MAN.
She's sitting over there with her eggs just chillin. Here comes the DUDE with his sperm to invade her body and produce a life. That is TOTALLY on him.
But check THIS OUT, A woman is not absolved in ANY WAY, because let's say she DOES have the kid, but by a bum azz sperm doner, who isn't giving up any loot...
That's HER BAD, because she should have made a more informed decision of who SHE slept with from the door.
So it goes both ways.

If SHE wants it and can't afford to raise a kid, there are adoption agencies.

Do you know that the minute a woman gets pregnant, HER life is at stake, and the possibility of her having children is too?
There's the slim possibility that SHE can die while giving birth, so you FORCING her to have a kid is not a 1 person decision.
Also, her having an ABORTION can scar her uterus, and possibly STOP her from having kids with SOMEONE ELSE in the future, after she gets rid of the guy that wants her to have an abortion.
The guy just walks away able to stick his jawn in the next chick. With that luxury comes responsibility.

It's very simple. Really.
If I get a girl pregnant and she wants to keep it and I don't want to raise the child or support the child, she should stop the pregnancy asap. She has been put on notice. Plenty of notice to make a decision. That can be the pill (no damage), abortion (possibility of damage) if done improperly. The risk is very low nowadays though. If she wishes to keep the fetus until it turns into a baby and a HUGE responsibility. It's on her.
That's how the law should be. If that was the case, there wouldn't be the need for so much child support. So much drama in people's lives.
Throw religion into it if you really want to make it a crazy argument. hahaha

For one, it would expose to the CHICK the real possibility that she's dealing with a potential dead beat dad, and she can now think twice before she opens her legs.
And on the other side, it would provide an indication to the GUY that he is dealing with a chick who he may be indebted to for the next 19-21 years if something goes wrong.

Yes. I noticed my girl was getting some love chub goin on, so I told her (nicely) that she should lose it because i don't like it. Then she asked me, "if i got fat, would you leave me?". Then i asked how fat? She said I don't know. So I told her flat out, yes. I told her that I didn't sign up to be with a big girl because its not attractive to me, and I would hope that she would respect me and herself enough to keep herself healthy and in shape.
She's eating healthy now and has made noticeable improvement. I win! YES!!!!!!!!
