cue points

DJ/VJ Graham 3:06 AM - 16 July, 2010
My cue points are not saving. I searched & found various topics that said one should change their files to read AND write & also to disable administtrative tools.

Can someone pls tell me (on a MACBOOK PRO 2009 model) how do I do the following:

1. Change my files to read AND write (THEY ARE ON AN EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE)
2. Disable administrative tools on the Macbook Pro.

Thanks in advance for all constructive replies.

Is there anyone out there????
It's Friday & I would hope that I could get some help before I gig this weekend. Trust me, I have googled but couldn't find answers that were mac related. This is my first macbook pro so I am unfamiliar with the layout/functions/operating system etc.
Any & all help is appreciated.
Just to expantiate a bit....when I set a cue point it is there until I shut down & restart the laptop. Then the cue points are lost.

I believe the solution is what I posted above in my previous post. I'm just not sure how to go about it. Once again, any & all help is appreciated.
Thx.

i have no idea how to do what you are asking but you may get a faster answer if you post in the help section.

Sounds like your external drive could be formatted NTFS. Mac cannot write to this format... Are you able to edit tags and have them save?

Disgrace I think U are correct. I posted in the help section (following Tomatoislices advice) & that is basically what they thought the problem was. I will update my backup harddrive by copying the last 2 weeks worth of information & then I will reformat my main external drive to either fat 32 or mac HFS+ format.
Thanks.

actually I meant either Fats 32 or mac HFS+ format. I share this external between a macbook pro & an ASUS PC Laptop that served well over the last couple of years....I might therefore go with Fat 32.

Does the mac only HFS+ format offer a lot of advantages over the Fat 32 (mac & PC compatible) format??

format it hfs+ and get mac drive for your pc.........HFS+ is way better than fat 32 and mac drive will let you read/write the hd on your pc

hey before you do all that, you can make a nfts formatted drive to read/write on a mac

+1 especially since you're gigging on your Mac. The MacDrive software works great.

Okay, I will look in to the macdrive option. Thx 4 all the support thus far.

Even better I have my external drive encrypted so NO ONE can access it in case of it being stolen, lost or whatever.

I use TrueCrypt. It is free!!

On my MacBook Pro I set up the encryption to have the HFS+ file format for the external drive. During the process it asks if you are going access this drive on other operation systems so I said yes. And guess what... it also works on a my home workstation PC with the HFS+ mac formatted drive with NO reason to buy any software to read a Mac formatted drive on my PC.

And it is protected from anyone getting the my files!

In fact I ended up leaving one of my drives on accident at my residency and mysteriously no one seen it from the crew I work with there. But I feel good knowing that whomever got that drive got no videos from me!

Hardware is replaceable ... media and data isn't !!

Back it up and protect it!!

and doing so I can easily go between my Mac and PC with TrueCrypt with no extra cost!!!

Thanks Phat-Al,
I'll look in to True Crypt too. We've had a few things mysteriously dissappear from the DJ booth at the club where I work www.platinum-bham.com with no trace. A book of 2 years worth of Promo Only Urban & VMS urban DVD's (that the club owner had subscribed too) dissappeared one day (after I handed it to the DJ that relieves me at 1.00am to pass on to the club owner).
Also, the clubs needles were removed from the 1210 MK5g's about a year ago. While it would be a loss if ones drive was stolen, the satisfaction of knowing that whoever stole my stuff didn't get to use it is priceless.

Thanks.
