fuck the pats. the stadium is nowhere even remotely close to a city. they don't even belong to a city...it's the "massachussetts/rhode island/maine/new hampshire" patriots. and any team that's ever started drew bledsoe is a team that must be hated on.
i am legally required, as an nyc born-and-bred individual now residing in philly, to say that. although i can give two credits: belichek and brady. oh, and belichek's old gray cutoff hoodie.
anyway, now that the birds are out, i'm a chargers fan for the remaining games.

Yeah, but the colts have yet to beat the pats in the post season. I dont see the colts blowing out the pats, its gonna be close. And in a close game i'd much rather have brady as my QB Than manning. When has manning led his team down the field for a game winning drive in the playoffs? I can name a few for brady......

^^ True. But every Colts/Pats game is like a playoff game. And we've won the last two. This isn't 2004-05 anymore. The momemntum is clearly with the Colts these days. You might rather have Brady, but in a close game, I'd take Vinatieri (good move Pats front office). He's only responsible for pretty much two of the 3 Superbowl victories for New England. It will be a great game, but the game is in the Dome Brady and Co. won't be able to hear themselves think.

"dont ever underestimate the heart of a champion" -Rudy T.
No offense, but peyton has shown NOTHING in the playoffs, He's another dan marino. Great in the season but nothing in the playoffs. When it comes crunch time look for the pats to lock down and get it done.
and u cant say every colts/pats game is like a playoff game bc its not, The stakes are nowhere near the same in the season as in the playoffs. If u loose in the season there's always next week. When u loose in the playoffs ur goin home. thats a BIG Difference.
the only momentum the colts have is there deffence. but the 2 teams they played had one dimentional offences. The pats have more weapons offensively so the colts will not look as good deffesively as they have in the last 2 games. this game is gonna come down to the 2 QBs and there will to win and anyone that would take manning over brady in a big game is CRAZY.

Here's the deal.
I don't know why pats get no respect. They have won 3 super bowls in 5 years.
They know what it takes.
I for 1 have no idea how anyone can hate on tom brady. He is the most humble and most un cocky athlete ever. Dude is 12-1 in the postseason and by the attitude he gives off you would never even think the guys ben to the playoffs.
Chargers were the only team that was going to stop them. They are going to manhandle paytons prissy little ass and NFC might as well just give up now.
Pats all the way and that's a no brainer gaurantee. They are that good. And I hope this win proves it. Tom played like complete shit and they still beat "the best team in the league"
And LT deserves to have his MVP stripped. That sore losing pussy. Take the loss like man and stop whining you little bitch ass.
You think the pats players would be whining? Hell no cuz they are the epitome of real football players.

Unfortunately the one against the Panthers in 2004, too. It was so close until the last second. It was one of the best and most exciting Super Bowls I have ever seen. Both teams could have been the Champ. As a Panther`s fan (because Charlotte is my 2nd home) I still have much respect for the Pats.

uh...hate to break it to you, but it is going to be FAR from an epic game. peyton has been shook all through the playoffs. you think he isn't dreading yet another showdown with the pats? as much as i don't want to see the pats win, i KNOW they aint getting beaten by the colts. i expect the standard manning breakdown, coupled with the standard, solid-yet-not-overwhelmingly-amazing, brady game.
besides, on the real...the pats have an incredible backfield (basically three backs who could all start on onother squad) and a solid defense. addai is nice, and he had a great rookie year, but he can't grind the way the pats will be able to. manning will throw more picks, marvin will drop more balls, and the pats and saints are going to the super bowl.
bets?

Are the colts gonna be lil skirts like chargers and only sell tix to locals?

Dammit. Lucky dude. I *heard* some stuff about them not allowing out of towners in the game. My boy told me last night. Supposedly, they're checking ID's? And they have these handheld credit card machines so they can credit your card for the face value of the ticket right there on the spot if you're from out of town. Sounds far fetched, but... I've heard/seen crazier things happen. A LOT of people here in the city are mad about there not being enough tickets for people that actually live here.
Tig is right... I guess the Chargers did something similar this past weekend.

Im befuddled.
The defense essentially collapsed in the 2nd half. Seymour, Big Vince are both out of shape fatso's. Its teh fucking AFC championship, buckle down and perform!!
lemme ask everyone on here..
why so much hated towards the pats? They are a humble team, who rarely show boats. Tom Brady is one of the best quarter backs ever and he couldnt be more humble. If I was on the outside looking in, then I would def respect a team and players like that.
I guess I gotta route for the Colts. I hate Rex more then I do Peyton. Bears dont have a chance.

I had to turn the sound off halfway through the game, the douche bias anouncers were just too aggrivating. This was a tough loss but before this i did feel bad for the colts in a way so..

huh? Didn't you watch what happened at the end of the game vs the chargers? I mean they aren't consistently arrogant like TO but they sure did showboat. But I'm not mad. They deserved to showboat cuz they got the W that week.
And there's always gonna be hate when you're at the top. Patriots are definitely the class of the NFL...you'll just have homer fans who'll say stupid things and not respecting other teams simple because they are homers.

I would say 80% of analysts would take Tom over Peyton in a game like this, just due to history.
But that being said anytime you have peyton in a game on TV they will ALWAYS favor him (same goes for ELI despite the fact he is the shittiest QB in the league).
I cant deny peyton played excellent in the 2nd half, but the pats essentially had 2nd and 3rd string players out there a majority of the 2nd half, almost to the point where Eli might have even been able to put something together against them.
I am not a sore loser, so congrats to you indy fans. That doesnt mean I am not bitter tho.

Thats cuz the Chargers thouht they were the shit, and Merriman didnt do a god damn thing that game. LT should have been crying about how they played not what the Pats did. If he didnt make a big deal out of it, no one would have even noticed what the Pats did.
Ok Im done. Seasons over. Feb 4th will just be another day for me. Probably wont even watch the game.

lemme ask everyone on here..
why so much hated towards the pats?
they once employed drew bledsoe. that is reason enough for me.
seriously though, i really do find that all of the sudden there were all these fairweather fans when the pats started winning. and they don't represent a city. so it's annoying when out of nowhere fools are all about the pats. i'm not saying there weren't always diehard fans, even when they were abysmal. i think it's just gonna take a while for the gut reaction, when hearing about the pats, to be truly represented by feelings for the actual team rather than the new fans.
the pats are an extremely good team. belicheck is an amazing coach, his sweatshirt is superb, and brady stands in the pocket unfettered perhaps better than anyone in the game ever has. when it comes down to it, he is a qb you want running your show when the chips are down. every season he becomes more and more impressive.
yet i still hate. i can't really put a finger on it. again, i'm a former jets fan from nyc originally, so it's kinda in my programming.
anyway, congrats on the season...i know this is getting billed as "the greatest comeback ever" and all that, and it must be disappointing, but this season i would say is just about as impressive as some of the superbowl seasons. the pats overcame a lot of obstacles and went a lot farther than most predicted. the colts had to win at some point.....

I agree. Its like after halftime the energy of the Pats D, was gone. The time of possession was disgusting. Like I said the way the D played in the 2nd half ELI could have ran the score up on us, even worse, david carr could have done what peyton did. It was miserable

You were obviously watching a different game the the rest of the country. Fear? Are you serious? He only engineered THE BIGGEST COMEBACK in playoff Championship history!! But I guess they put in Peyton's backup and HE did it right? You're (and Tig) are obviously hating. The Colts (Peyton) beat the Pat's ass. Period. If Peyton was so "scared" he wouldn't have been able to do what he did last night and thats, again, engineered THE BIGGEST COMEBACK in playoff Championship history!

I am not discrediting what he did, but you as a colts fan had to have seen that the pats D was virtually playing like they have never stepped on a football field before.
In the first half peyton couldnt do shit. They must have turned the heat on in the dome...

LMAO!!! The heat? Damn Tig!!
Actually, my man that was covering Marvin Harrison in the 1st half (the one that intercepted Peyton) was the ONLY dude that really came to play to me - in the 1st and 2nd halfs. Dude is nice. I think our offensive coordinator was like, "we not f*ckin' with that dude NO more!" at halftime. So the Colts switched it up and stopped tryna go deep, started going to Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark with those short passes. That opened up the running game = a win.

this whole "oh my god!!! biggest comeback ever!!!" shit is completely engineered by the NFL becasue peyton is their poster boy. plain and simple. how many commercials feature mr. manning? you don't thinik the announcers are virtually COMMANDED to spin their comments towards one thing or another? ok then. now let's really think about this in a logical fashion.
i really don't want it to sound like i am discrediting the win OR peyton. like i said, he didn't fuck it up. he played a solid second half, and did what he needed to do. many nfl quarterbacks would have faltered. what i am saying is that he didn't do anything specifically to win the game. at no point was there a play where you would jump up out of your seat and be like "oh shit; i can't believe he did that!". at no point did he do anything beyond finding the open man on a relatively routine passing play. his o-line gave him STUpid amounts of time during those drives, with the exception of the last one, where he had finally figured out that the pats were set on blitzing him every play. at that point, he started taking three-step drops and finding his receivers on simple out routes. this is nothing special.
did his play deserve praise? yes. that is undoubtedly a ridiculously pressure-filled period of time, especially given that he knew everybody in the country was waiting to see him fail yet again. but was it one of the best playoff performances ever? even of the past few years? come on now. really. come on.
what y'all NEED to be doing is thanking god for the colts' defense. and, to agree with tig (i can't believe it has come to this), for the pats lack of defense in the end.

Them players are always going to be hot. There is no wind in the dome to cool them off. Most of them were banged up from the week before and some of them were sick. I only say one guy cramping up that needed some massaging. they need to stay hydrated and loose on the sidelines instead of sitting and tensing up.

Yep karma, and we now have the right to say all the past Patriots win in the superbowl were probably tainted. The 2002 superbowl over the Rams (tainted), in the regular season the Rams crushed the Pats, all of a sudden in the superbowl, the Pats are picking off Curt Warner left, right and center....because they knew the plays. In the Pats victory over the Steelers where they (the Pats) went on to beat the Eagles, Bettis says he didn't understand it, it was like if they (the Pats) knew our plays. Pats = Cheaters

Incredible poise on Eli's part. Crazy sick catch by Tyree. Huge play, no doubt. But look at the end of the play: Harrison is the only one trying to make a play on the ball. 3 other Pats defenders standing around doing nothing while that sick duck Eli threw up slowly goes toward Tyree...

You do realize that pretty much every team tapes, right?
There's a reason why all coaches cover their mouths when they talk.

Bellicheck has a better regular season winning % after the taping incident then he did before or during it - its a non factor...
Its Football knowledge.
If Bill doesnt get coach of the year and Tom doesnt get MVP - There's something seriously wrong with the system.
No one around the leauge expected anything out of this team and now they have clinched home field and a first round bye and they have the 32nd ranked passing defense in the league lol...
PATS FTW!

Umm? So are you saying that he's not a cheater?
I agree with this Boston Globe columnist...all 3 Super Bowls should have an asterisk.
Giants with a repeat of 2008...FTW!

You mean the two seasons in which they lost their starting QB to a knee injury 7 minutes into the season and the next when their offense and defense were both in extreme transition?
I love the hypocrisy of a league where the penalty for taping signals is $750,000 and a draft pick and the penalty for sexual harassment is $50,000. One is a crime, and one is not.
Yes, it was cheating, but the rule is stupid. The Dolphins the year before bought tapes of the Patriots audio signals and the league didn't penalize them (and were lauded for being smart!) -- 9 months later, it was a quarter a million dollar penalty to do something INCREDIBLY similar. The rule is stupid. There's a reason why Super Bowl winner coaches like Jimmy Johnson thought it was stupid to penalize the Patriots like the NFL did.
Oh, Bob Ryan is an old blowhard and everyone who reads the Globe knows this.

Lad - Spot on.
Pats should have won in 08...Giants fans should still be thanking their lucky stars -
Pats will win the Super Bowl this Year - no question about it.
Bill = Coach of the Year
Brady = MVP
Mccourtey = Defensive Rookie of the Year
Benjarvis has not fumbled once in over 350 carries -
Even with their 32nd ranked paass defense they are too good for any of these other teams to compete with.
