PnT changes the pitch or the time phase-accurately when in Audiosuite's multi-channel mode. If you change the pitch of a stereo recording in mono mode, one quickly hears the phase disalignment- the stereo image is totally screwy. So one uses multi-channel mode.

If you need to change the pitch across multiple tracks, for instance (12) stereo pairs, you use multichannel mode. This is essential if all (12) tracks were mics in one room. It preserves the phase. But if you need to change the pitch across multiple stereo tracks of discretely recorded material (separate rooms, separate overdub), each track suffers lower audio quality because PnT is trying to preserve phase when it doesn't need to.

So since day one, my workaround is to stay in multi-channel mode, but process each stereo pair separately. I get much, much better sound quality this way.

This is really an Audiosuite problem. I need a new mode in between mono and multichannel, maybe "stereo mode", or "track mode". Is there a better way?

I know this post is a little obscure, but I run into this issue frequently. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Hi Nathaniel,

Sorry for the delay in reply.

This is indeed a good idea, I have forwarded this suggestion on to the Pitch 'n Time development team. I can't guarantee that this feature will be implemented, but for now the workaround you are using sounds like the best solution :)
