I want a external HDD for my laptop where i store my music and crates.
Since i´m a mobile DJ, a small one would be great. Found one lacie, good price and it powers up by the USB and its plug and play also. So no extra things to worry about. Problem is that its using 4200RPM. Will this be any problem? Should i go for one that has 5400 or 7200?

the 5400 and 7200 would of course be better. the RPM is the rotation speed so it is important. but be careful with lacie's theyre reputation arent so good. and be careful with usb powered drives because they normally dont have good ventillation

What HD brands would you reccomend to use besides Lacie? Im in the market to start using an external HD at gigs.

I just bought the Western Digital "My Book" HD. Its the 500gb model with both usb and firewire ports and spins at 7200rpm. Its worked great so far w/ 1.7.

I have a 250G LaCie d2, and I've never had a problem with it....
I guess it depends on who you ask! ;)
External power would be advisable however.

Western Digital or WD are good drives. Those are the ones I've used in several models and haven't had any problems with any of them.

i have this one scsi 10K drive that 'SCREAMS' as in it's soooo loud :)
