the best DJ Resumes?

djtrippin 7:35 AM - 27 December, 2006
Okay guys, I want to start passing out some resumes for the hell of it to some local clubs, myspace pages for those clubs, email's, etc... see if it doesnt help grab a gig or two.

What would be the best way to go about creating a resume such as this? Does anyone have examples of what they've created or done? What is most appealing for owners/promoters to hear about you?

Thanks!

they dont care bout resume's you sell yourself by what they hear about you and what they see you can do. Word of mouth works

I realize that and I've already secured a lot of gigs like that, but thats the point of this post, to figure out if I wanted to throw a resume out there randomly to people who have never heard my name before, the best way to present it, for that minimal chance that the person reading it will become interested, feel me? :)

Probably the best way to do that would be making a mix cd. Then just add the resume on the back or include it inside. That may work

haha jeez.... okay thats great, but what would be contained as the written text of that said resume? That was my original question haha.

Make a promo cd. and send it out. A lot of my friends did that, and that's how they got their first few gigs. then they moved on and got managers and what not.

resume would be a small blurb about your dj career (how long youve played, styles you play, clubs/residencies, artists/dj's youve opened for...) Its really up to you. A proper mix CD with proper info it can go a long way, as well as your networking/social skills.

Look and be as professional as possible. Don't walk in after blazin' or draining a few.

the promoters / owners that ive come across dont give a shit about the music or mixing. they would rather you be on time and sober.
