HELP!!!! MY CROSS FADER AND LINE FADER BLEEDS

capo di exmixah 6:00 PM - 24 December, 2006
All I did was use cotton swabs to cleans the rails of the cross fader and the left line fader(J1). I then used a particular brand of sewing machine oil (possibly the big mistake) to lube the rails of both faders .... replaced the face plate and head off to do a gig at a club in town.

I then dicovered that with the crossfader planted to position B using the "fast" cross fader setting , Line fader (J1) (left channel) was not cutting off... it was bleeding at full volume (Making sharp and precise scratching impossible). In fact that channel would only cut off if the the cross fader curve was set fully to slow while placed at position B. I later discovered that with the fader in position A and line fader left (j1) set to curve sharp (fast)there is no cut off at all on that fader even when it's positioned all the way to the bottom.

JESUS CHRIST!!! I have 5 days of back to back gigs plus my radio show....what the hell has gone wrong with this damn gadget.... Suggestions anyone??

HHHEEELLLLPPPP!!!

Are you sure you put the two faders back in the right place? If you are sure you didn´t swap them over then it sounds like you may have knocked the sensor out of place. Have a look in the TTM 56 manual for instructions on how to move the sensor.

Because the faders are magentic they don´t get affected by fluids (provided those fluids don´t affect the magnetic field)

Just make sure the sensors are truly vertical... You probably knocked them out of alignment. Easy to fix, not to worry. That's the only thing that can really go wrong. And instead of just oiling, buff the slide rails with newspaper. Works really well

Think I corrected the problem.... Found picture and diagram of the faders in my ttm 56 manual. Why the hell didn't they put it in the 57 as well?

Seems you were right fellows... I gently pulled the sensors back into a more upright position and both faders are now back normal

Thanks a lot Nobspangle and seasons greetings to all

I agree the stuff about caring for the faders should have been in the 57 manual. I don't own a 56 so I have to check the online copy.

Just for the record.. can you swap all 3 faders of the 57SL too?

Cause the 56s linefaders and crossfader are all the same.

Yes all 3 faders are the same, however you aren't supposed to swap them around as they are supposed to have been calibrated in the factory for the individual position
