Anyone own or seen this system first hand? Thinking about buying one...any info would be helpful.

My company has about 16 of the original Intimidators that we bought back in 2002. They are great lights. They run their own light show when you connect them together and use the "Option" dip switch. You can use a DMX controller, but you really don't need to. They work best with the built-in programming.
The 1.0 looks a little different from what we have. The 2.0 looks more like what we use.

Julls, have you had a bad experience with them? Just curious because Trooper has a different outlook....

How much does the system cost? Whats included? I wouldnt pay more than $800 for a set of four scans unless they were martins, Anything more than $800 I would save for a pair of moving heads.

I've never had a bad experience with them, they are just basic as hell. The color and gobo's are combined into one wheel rather than two diff wheels. If your looking for something around the same price range as the Intimidator 1.0 system, you may want to check this out: www.centerstagelighting.com I own these scanners, and they kick ass. If one of them breaks...who cares they are only $169 to replace, and you can program them to be a spotlight at a gig, or just run them in auto without DMX. If you do decide to roll with that system, make sure you call ahead and tell them you would like to swap out the controller for a better one.

The 1.0 only has one gobo/color wheel. Our Intimidator fixtures have separate wheels. Definitely go with the 2.0 fixtures for more flexibility.
When it comes to intelligent lighting, it's not so much what fixtures you have, it's what you can do with them. A good DMX controller is expensive and takes a while to really get good at programming. The Intimidators are great because they're cheap as hell and can run their own synchronized light show with no controller.

Julls how long have you had yours? How many gigs have you done with them? How long do the bulbs last? What other models are these similar to? I would like to check them out in action but i noticed centerstage's site did not have a video of them or a brand name...is this light their own particular brand? Sorry for all the ?'s. Oh yeah, do they have the strobe or strobing effect?

RekTek, I have had them since Oct, and have taken them out to almost every gig. I'm not sure how long the bulbs last, but I have used my lights a lot, and not burned a single one out. The replacements only cost $9.99. As far as I know there are no other similar models. Centerstage advertises them as a "profile scanner" but they are actually "Eliminator Instigator 2.0's" Here is a simple video of when I was learning how to program via DMX. Notcie, that this is not everything these lights can do. They can strobe in every color and gobo, and have gobo bounce/shake. Just check the specs. Watchwww.youtube.com If you have anymore questions, let me know.

Don't waste your money. I bought two of them for my mobile business. I took them to one show and then returned them. First off they are not very bright. Unless it is dark you will not see them. Second their built in DMX sequence is wack so you will need to spend another $100+ to get a DMX controller. Save yourself the hassle and invest in Martin.

You have to take into consideration that the Intimidator 1.0's are like $150 a piece. They are what they are, but I will say at that price point, they are much better than the Eliminator Scanner 22's.
However, I figured I would also key you in towards the fact that Chauvet now has the Intmidator 2.0 HTI's out and they are only $300 a piece. I have them at my shop now and they are pretty cool, especially for the price.

DjRekTek, I said this once but im gonna say it again, if your gonna spend a grand save a bit more & get moving heads. Within the past 6 to 9 mos or so i went from no intels, to 2 scans then added 2 moving heads & finally added 2 more moving heads, guess what the scans are now just sitting, Im going multi-op & even then instead of bringing the scans to another gig i may just split my moving heads.
In fact depending on your location go used. I picked up all 4 of my moving heads for a little less than $800 TOTAL
Watchwww.youtube.com
here are my heads & scans in action, the lights are on & this is during setup there not doing anything fancy but just look at the 4 heads compared to the 2 scanners, oh if you dont notice them the scanners are those 2 things in the middle, of which my son is messing with one of them.
