I now see your confusion. Difference between battle & traditional... I'll be getting a different Odyssey case without the laptop stand built in, simplty due to the fact that I do not like to reach over a tonearm all night long for the pitch control - it breaks my back in short time. Having that tray out front turns in to a drunk drink holder anyhow. I have been spinnning a lot more with the laptop off to my side, safer and I end up rarely looking at the screen that way too. Not to mention I feel more connected to the crowd without the laptop screen sheilding me.

Do you have a 60+ inch screen laptop or something? lol
I see this a lot from cats who complain about having a tiny laptop in front of them. Mine is an iBook 12 inches... It not an obstruction whatsoever.

SKB cases are the lightest and the sturdiest. But are only made for turntables and are a little more expensive, $150/case
