this is nothing to do with ssl but ever since i got my ttm56 ive wondered why the rane website is so booty- i meen its not like the info is bad or anything- it just looks like it was made in the stone ages or something- anybody else feel me?

being a web developer myself, imo it does look a little dated. however, on the flip side it is pretty easy to get around and they're always thorough in their specs. rane goes for substance over style--that's how they've always been. they aren't like other companies where they use flash-in-the-pan advertising.

Yeah I've always felt it seemed quite 'old skool' hehe...
They could keep it simple like it is but make it a bit more modern, this does not mean actually using flash or anything, just update the looks, textures, and colors a bit.

there doesnt need to be any crazy flash stuff but i think Diego feels me. rev, simple is one thing, butt ugly is another. and nik, the TTM56 is way more aesthetically pleasing than that budget web site.

Well, it depends on the eyes that see. I wouldn't call the Rane site ugly. And what's the point in having this fancy site if no one can get around it?

yeah spicy, i feel ya ;)
For example the main SSL product page www.rane.com : it's like they just put an ugly background, default text, added pics and links! It doesn't look too professional or 'RANE quality'. I mean SSL is ultimate tech, modern, the top shizzle stuff, but when you look at the website it just looks plain, simple, and ordinary; which SSL and the rest of the RANE products are not meant to express.
I will be graduating as a Marketing Major in aproximately 2 years, so if you want my help RANE you can email me the contract soon ;)

I forgot to add, just look at the smilies at the bottom of the website with the user comments... you wouldn't expect those in a professional audio corporation would you? It looks like a typical teen homepage hehe but oh well at least SSL rules!
I prefer the website to be 'ugly' to my eyes and SSL working than a cool site and SSL not working.
end of rant :D

Yeah, Reality. However, I find the way Rane is using Flash very functional and creative. They don't use it for "bling bling" as most sites do.

Diego you summed it up man- "typical teen hompage." thats what im talking about. of course ssl working is the important thing, but how hard would it really be to have ssl work and a revamped rane website up and running at the- get this- SAME TIME:) anyway thanks Diego for articulating my thoughts for me.

djspicedham, hm, I dont really like how the TTM56 looks, the Vestax 07PRO with its gold finish looks much better, but thats just my personal preference of course.

i don't think rane website is exactly ugly--it's just a little staid. the colors are a little bit too conservative for my taste. the home page is OK, but the rest of the pages have little style.

That's why looks can be decieving and most of the time simple things are more essential and never goes out of style.

Well if you think about it from a business point of view, it could be making RANE lose sales. For example some guy hears about SSL and FS, visits both sites and ends up buying FS because the site look more on the edge and 'cooler' (or whatever reason). I know that making a buying decision just because of something like that without doing research and stuff is stupid, but people ARE like that. And I know you will say who cares, that guy is just stupid for buying FS and all that, but it's could mean less SSL sales.
Do you agree to some extent or not?

The website serves its purpose well. Clean, fast & concise. Has more than enough info for both users and industry professionals alike.
There is no point making a bandwidth intensive "wank" site to showboat. The products do all the talking ;)

I was talking about the Rane TTM56. I think it looks really nice and clean.
The Rane site is simple. It is easy to get around. What's the point about having a fancy site no one can get around? Young people can probably get around pretty much anything, but old people (like my dad) don't just press anything and see where it takes them. Therefore the Rane site's target audience becomes much larger since it's simple. You know what I'm saying?

I'd rather RANE make super products and bland websites than the other way round if you know what I am saying.
Coming to think of it NI have a very good website ... maybe they spend all their time and energy on the website ... we all know how FC works ...
