Your biggest weakness?

I suck at breaking new music. A part of me wants to be the first to drop such n such track, but the other part of me knows and understands that such n such track sucks and will be annoying as f* within the next 2 months. Lets call it the eMpTyV syndrome.

my biggest weakness is also breaking new music. I never think it's the right time for it other than when I practice at home.
my second weakness is being too critical of myself. I'll often have temper tantrums in the booth if I feel a mix didn't go my way. I know I'm not the only one who does this.....

flares & beatmatching, but its my own fault for not practicing enuff

I heavily favor my right hand for scratching (right on the record, left on the mixer) which is doubly bad because not only would I like to be equally good with both hands, but most DJs are better with their left on the record and right on the fader, so when a bunch of DJs are taking turns scratching, the beat is usually on the right and the sample is on the left.

im WEAK at flares.
iv been practising tuff...but man, .... i cant do it... ill get there, maybe. one day. maybe.
i can only transform one way, the other way i have to make up with doing babys in a stuttery fashion... lol
im crap at crabbing without having to flip my fader. i can get all four fingers breaking the sound with it reversed, but only hit two if i dont.
im crap at pr. people who talk to me when im djing dont get me, they get my alter ego, evilL, because sweetL is busy thinking about the next tune.... lol. i also only take requests if i like the tune.

Doh, its just about how much you practice. Even if you're a right hander (like me, my left hand is on record too) you can be a scratch-god, if you just practiced from the beginning using your "weak" hand on the fader. Doesnt matter. Just routine.
Dopest Djs i know (might be left hander) have their left hand on the fader iirc: Netik, D-Styles, Qbert, I-Emerge, Ricci Rucker, Muzzel, Tony Vegas ..... long list.

Mike I feel exactly like you. I wake up from a full nights rest, just kinda lay in bed for a while watch TV, and proceed to take a nap...... back to the topic tho... My cuts are weak, i can do basic shit but struggle with the more complex cutz, and Im to lazy at makin new mixes

i understand quence and mike.. i mean, i know i can remix a jam, i know i can make a nice mix cd (A real mix cd, now a bunch of mp3s thrown together),i know this, so i guess i feel like i dont have to prove it to myself that i can do it. Its like, been there done that. but whenever i do get back on the tables, i feel refreshed, and go for hours at a time.

drills/practices.... i can mix i or 2 differant songs for about 2 hours.. i backspin slow then work my up to super fast backspins.. Sometimes i put on a loop and scratch in acapellas to practice scratching. I mix/transition for a long ass time.. THEN i pretend im doing a session in front of a BIG ass crowd, and i even thank the people for their time to listen to me ! Oh, it gets deep.

this cocksucker said that if you scratch with the up and down channel faders, that thats considered cheating. I practice in "hamster" mode and scratch every different way, and its all a challenge. I kinda took it personally.

crab scratching with my left hand on the fader. playing pre-recorded mixes to a crowd that wouldnt know the difference. capitalizing and using proper punctuation.

My biggest weakness is the 1-click flare. I can't conceptualize or quite get my hands/mind around the timing. What's weird is that I can 2-click/orbit/crab/3-click all day!
I used to have this issue but it may take a little mic control {which I'm not the best at). Play some current music with a little crowd involvement (crowd singing various parts) or your mic talking with the new song ready to go.
You are the song selector, make the crowd feel like they are on some new sh!t with this new track and just follow it up with another current hit. I wouldn't be in a rush to come out of it either even if the floor lightens up {you're letting the crowd control you if you give in and bail out}. Sometimes the crowd will respond a slowly. If you spin at a spot frequently, play that joint everytime you're on and people may eventually be on it (if the song is good).

I have to practice practice practice... I know. :(

left hand scratching (left hand wax, right hand fader). i can do alot of things with my left hand; jerk off, lay ups, finger chicks, etc. but when it cames to scratch, my left hands feels like putty.
