Serato Software Feature Suggestions

What features would you like to see in Serato software?

automatic loop activation

RHF 10:04 AM - 3 December, 2006
Christmas is near and i have an humble wish for any future release :)

it would be nice to have a check box in the setup menu that says something like "activate loops on track load"
i´m not talking about auto looping, only about automatically switching loops on that are already set in the song. if you don´t select the check box erverything is working as usual.

Merry Christmas to all of you!

I like that idea....put right under the instant doubles feature....However, all you have to do is "set a cue point at the point where your loop begins and go into setup and select "play from first cue point"....

That's how I do it for now....

...but if the track plays from the first cue point / beginning of the loop, the loop isn´t already activated, is it?

Here is my approach to the sense of loops:
When i set a loop in a song, and i protect it, it means that i want this loop to be an inherent part of the track - that´s why i protected it!
So if the track plays from its beginning and the loop is situated at the end (or somwhere else, this makes no difference), i want the loop to loop when i run into it. But for now ssl do not consider protected loops as inherent part of the tracks and i have to tell the software each time "please loop my loop" (activate the loop).

I don´t see the sense of the loop protection as it is now. You can´t protect cue points either... So why can i delete cue points by mistake, but not loops? ;)

oh, so if you set a loop 2 minutes into into a song, you would want SSL to give you option to recognize the loop and activate it once it rolls over (green section)...automtically???

if that's what you meant, it makes a lot of sense

yes exactly :)
espacially if the loop is protected - if it´s not protected the loop don´t has to be activated automatically...
And the check box in the setup menu would be for those who prefer the actual behaviour of the software (or rather vice versa).

^^ Bump. Can we get it so if the first cue point is also the beginning of the loop, if "first cue point" is selected, it would activate that loop? Basically, it'd be a "activate loop if is cue point" option that would be possible if "go to first cue point" is also checked. Please??? :)

Thanks, I knew it was somewhere, and did a search, but didn't see it.

Agreed. I approach many loops the same way. The majority of my loops are at the end of tracks and often I set them to extend the beats out beyond the original so I can do more intricate mixes. As it is right now I have to remember to do the mecanical functions of A) switch to absoltute mode, and then B) engage the loop before I can get back to the music and selecting next track. It would be very cool if there was some way of assigning certain loops to be automatically engaged when loaded. Maybe double clciking a loop number so that it changes color or sybol so it indicates that it has been assigned to auto actvate.

You guys do know that if you select a loop number and hit the loop button before you get to the loop start in point, it will automatically start looping that section once the playhead position gets there, right? Isn't that what you guys basically want? Sure it's an extra keyboard button press, but it works. What I do is set up the "exit loop" to the #1 loop, so it always loads first, then as soon as you load the song hit [ for the left deck or ' for the right deck. Problem solved.

Yes, but you are still needing to "hit the loop button" before getting to the loop. What we want is a way to assign certain loops to AUTOMATICALLY engage when the track is loaded.

Well, you have to touch the keyboard anyway to load a track (assuming no one uses the vinyl scroll), what's an extra keystroke? That'll take what, a whole millisecond?

But sometimes I just forget. I mean, why not make it an option? I realize some could consider this "lazy", but it's more a matter of forgetting, not being lazy.

+1 to "loop on load"
