wolf5 12:52 AM - 22 March, 2010
hey community, so basically im lookin around for a new speaker system and i was wondering what every ones thoughts are, as far as brands are concerned and what you guys like and recommend.
ninos 2:01 AM - 22 March, 2010
4 QSC k8's
2x QSC K sub's...

you should be good.
wolf5 2:04 AM - 22 March, 2010
thanks. ive worked with QSC and im not completely convinced maybe because i was only using two 10" for sound and it was a large event, but ill definitely take another look at them
terrible1fi 2:06 AM - 22 March, 2010
2 QSC HPR 181i
2 QSC HPR 122i

I'd rather have these then the k series, and you can't go wrong with the 6 year warranty
wolf5 2:09 AM - 22 March, 2010
ok i guess i gotta ask, what is the appeal towards QSC?????
O.B.1 2:17 AM - 22 March, 2010
well, for starters their power amps are known for reproducing excellent sound quality.
bgardali 2:20 AM - 22 March, 2010
+1 to QSC. Pricey, but worth it IMO.
DJ McKay 3:28 AM - 22 March, 2010
I have been using Mackies for the last 9 years and they are awesome still in great shape cause i baby them. but i also push them when i am DJing and they hold up really really well but for some reason on here everyone talks smack about them, i will be honest my next set up is going to be yorkville tops and subs. 800 watt tops and 1500 watt subs now thats what im talking about. i have heard the QSC K12s and i wont say they suck, cause they don't but people talk like they are 1000 X better then Mackie 450 and i TOTALLY disagree with that.
ninos 3:33 AM - 22 March, 2010
^^ yes, i own yorkville tops, no subs yet. pretty soon. haha. i got the NX 55P'S and there kickass loud. tons of bass, great mids and highs. im soon to be getting a yorville sub not sure what kind yet but i will. but yea, the QSC's sound awesome and would love to have a pair but i dont need em i guess.

I think the HPR 122i's sound 'slightly' better and fuller than the K12s but I'd probably lean towards the K12 because of it being much lighter.

I would disagree. Hearing them side-by-side, I the 450 sounds much fuller then the EON in my opinion.

The JBL EON G2's absolutelty dominate SRM-450s and the New EON15's. The G2's bass response good enough for small clubs and parties, I can't stand SRM450 bass repsonse, my club has them and I bring a sub because of it.

wolf5 10:12 PM - 22 March, 2010
Then one has to ask themselves active vs passive. And the verdit??
Joee 10:15 PM - 22 March, 2010

How about someone ask Wolfie here what his typical gig is like first? Funny how people recomment equipment without even knowing all the details....

hahah deff a good place to start. well there mostly weddings featuring on average of different halls country clubs and other places for events that range from private parties to weddings. weddings are where i spend most of my time however.
latindj 12:27 AM - 23 March, 2010
that's what I mainly do. I run a pair of JBL PRX515's for most weddings up to 150 people...no sub. For more than 150 I add the PRX718s sub.....awesome sound and light weight...

how much $$$$$$$ do you wanna spend, keep in mind it's better to buy the right thing the first time out, you will save money on the long run

guy's who buy cheap always spend more money later on when they want to upgrade, get you self something good & there will be no need to upgrade,,,,,

that said , do you want active, passive do you want a sub ?

take a look here also
scratchlive.net
wolf5 4:14 AM - 23 March, 2010
im willing to spend whatever it costs really so that i dont have to upgrade later like u said Joee. comfortably right now i can spend about 600 a speaker little more is ok but cheaper price for great quality id go for as well. im running passive right now but would like some advice on the whole passive vs active and currently i have a sub which i love so ya an added sub would be nice.

Electro Voice 12" active Monitors are right around 6-700 a speaker I believe and when paired with subs they will rock a party for 150-200 pretty decently

with that said i'll give you the same advice i gave aaronottio, for around $600 a speaker you cant go wrong with ev zx4's
scratchlive.net
read this post aaronottio got the zx4 he love's um, you will need something like a qsc 3602,3102 or 3402,302 to drive them

if you wanna go active, you will Not find a better sounding speaker than this in the price range
