%18 percent only? Wait up! There is Plenty of room still!
I would advice to just not store "any" track and be selective. That way you can maximize your storage capacity and have a well worth quality library at the end of the day.

I would honestly get a external if your looking to have a lot of genres and play on the radio. With the external you can just get a 1TB external it would be more beneficial.

i choose to get an internal just cause it is less stuff to carry when i was upgrading mine. I ran into issues of wanting to edit track and prepare stuff on the road or in the car ect and have no place to plug in an external

True but a 2.5 drive on a windows machine only needs one USB port Macs 2 USB ports for power Im going to suck it up 500g is cool for 89 bucks

Personally I would go with an internal. There is too much that can go wrong with an external. If its dropped, someone pulls the plug, and with itch touchy with usb irq settings as it is on Windows, I would want a little stuff in my ports as possible.

Well i just recommended a external only because its easier to upgrade to a external instead of having to do the work of upgrading your internal.

You can get eSATA via PC card or PCI Express card nowadays. The transfer speed is THE SAME as an internal drive. For real-time audio, I think that it's the only way to do external drives.

I wouldn't say that at all. Especially with the newer apples and most dells. The dells have hdd bays that can pull out quickly, and the mbpro's hdd is located in the battery bay. So it's not necessarily easier.

I would buy an external hdd enclosure and large hdd. Put the replacement drive in the external and clone it. Then swap. It's the easiest way to keep everything the way it is.

if u are going to go internal go for at least a TB or even two . make a partition for the OS and one to store the music that way should a problem arise you would wipe clean the OS partition reformat it and reinstall the OS to it and still have the other partition intact with all ur VERY IMPORTANT VITAL FILES!
Going from 320 to just 500 GB is almost nothing! 750GB is more like it but u can do better. Also some laptops accept two hard drives at the same time...

Definately SSD. Then you don't have to worry about if you drop it. Remember, it's very uncommon nowadays to find an evxternal drive that is 1 - 2 TB and not need external power. Thats an extra plug etc. that can go bad.

do u need to open up ur mac to install it? fast swapping would be nice for laptops. ex. pull dvd rom out and push hd bay in with comp off even better while comp on. =D

Nice
The first or second one would kinda work I will have to see the Dell Studio 15 spec and screw points, all that before investing in this

It's not just a speed issue; it's also a bus issue. Having the USB bus saturated is what I worry about. The ITCH platform seems to really saturate the USB bus by itself. I'm apprehensive when considering adding another high-throughput device (like a hard drive). YMMV.
