I want to know how to categorize music into genres in my hard rive so i can just hook up my hard drive and select and play music from my hard drive so that i dont have to store all the music in my computer which can cause things to run slower or do i still need to import music into scratch live itself?

First, I'd recommend upgrading to the latest version of Scratch Live incl. all bug fixes: serato.com

The music doesn't have to be on your internal hard drive. You can set up genre folders on your external hard drive and create the corresponding crates in Scratch Live.
Just drag your music from the folders on your external hd to the correct crates in Scratch Live. Those crates will show up as soon as you plug in your external hard drive.
