Can someone recomend a dvi/vga to USB adapter for web broadcasting?

yeah...
I searched... but call me lazy... too many threads and the info buried.

so, Im going to start broadcasting video from the club.

I have a great video mixer (external) and a pretty nice desktop in my club.

rather than that view of my chin(from my PCs cam), i have nice little webcam that i can rotate between the decks & the floor.
Im also hard-lining the audio straight to the desktop.

so I want to use the "monitor out" of the video mixer (which is VGA I believe)
and run that into the desktop and combine the 2 vid feeds & audio on the desktop
its also on a internet landline...

where are my experts?

thanks

lol. i dunno if it's exactly what you need. but i got a dvi to vga adapter from best buy for around $12. the monitor i was using was only vga and the tower i used at the time was only dvi out.

that adapter did it all. didn't know if this is what you need. but here's my 2 cents on trying to help ya out ;-)

I'll recommend firewire instead.

I have that actually.

what I need is something that willl take a video feed, and put it INTO a computer

yeah. my firewire box does that. video in to the box. firewire connected to the computer. your webcast program sees the box as a firewire webcam. for real.

thanks Swift...
Im 99% sure that the desktop doesent have FW4/800.
I have to double check.

I did look on the back of the video mixer last night, and it had a usb port.
I have to do some reading, I dont know what its function is.
i just grabbbed the manual.
but maybe some is familiar with this unit:

you need a capture card with a vga input. since its a desktop you can use pci/pci-e, usb and firewire.

but i'm not sure if you have capture card software running that you will be able pip the webcam and the mixer out to stream. you'll need to test that out.

for instance if you use ustream, the capture card will have to show up as webcam/video device for you to use it as in input. the same with camtwist (or other pip software).

Hopefully your mixer has something other than vga out because they can cost more than av, s-video or hd capture cards.

I got one of these.... can't go wrong for the price! Will try it out and report back... I would assume there is no difference between the $1 and $40 devices
