Not sure if this would work, thoughts?

hahaha, shit looks like a good idea. The glue can actually go all the way down to the grooves, dirt will stick to it and peel that shit off. Gonna have to try it on some old dusty vinyl i got stored away. Seems like a lenghty process since you gotta wait for the glue to solidify.
DJ Guayo 4:24 PM - 18 March, 2010
that and not to mention all the glue you need to buy.... but i will also try it out on some old vinyl i got... lol

money is not an obsticle when it comes to vinyl care, lol but i'm really curious about this method too.
Wazo 4:28 PM - 18 March, 2010
hmmmm looks good to me really. i think there could be better ways though without glue, like that green blob used to clean your ipod, keyboard and car radio like in the commercial.

green blob or something, you know what i mean, that would work well too.

i wonder how much glue your needles will pickup over the next several plays after the glue process clean. prob a lot of small residue. maybe maybe not.

Interesting but doesn't seem practical for any mass cleaning of records. I have over 6000 records. If only a 1000 needed cleaning like that it would take forever to do both sides leave them to dry peel them off make sure all the glue is off etc etc. It'd be one of those jobs for stuff you've brought in a 2nd hand shop that was dirt cheap because it was ''ruined''.

I'd save this cleaning technique for the expensive or rare vinyl in my collection OR if I were a sampling producer and wanted the cleanest rip possible.
Nick Fury 5:02 PM - 18 March, 2010
The only that gets me is if there is any residue left over
DeezNotes 5:07 PM - 18 March, 2010
never seen this before. if anyone does it, let us know how it works!
DJ'Que 8:13 PM - 18 March, 2010
use to do that back in the vinyl days. trying to see if I could get out the scratch's, but it did clean the fuck out the records. funny i didnt think about doing it with the serato vinyl. and you only need to do 2 records. do a thin layer.and it will dry faster.about to do one now.
DJ DisGrace 8:17 PM - 18 March, 2010
the results were impressive.... might have to try it!
Wazo 8:36 PM - 18 March, 2010
but it does look really good and brand new. prob a good thing to do before selling some good record for money.

This is definitely in the category of "everything old is new again".

There was a product called "Disco Film" in the late 1970's that was pretty much this same idea...liquified polymer that you brushed onto a record, then peeled off after it dried.

The advertised claims were basically the same as for the "record revirginizer".
DJ Guayo 11:36 PM - 19 March, 2010
anyone try the wood glue method?.... i tried on some LPs from the thrift store.... kinda sucks having to wait for the glue to dry... i will keep you guys posted.
Turn Table Tennis 11:39 PM - 19 March, 2010
wow, that's awesome. need to try it.
DJ Guayo 6:17 PM - 20 March, 2010
So after a long ass wait, i finally peeled off the glue. I will say to try this out on record you dont mind messing up. That way you can get some practice.

Layer the glue thick (its pays off in the long run, although it takes longer to dry). Record looked FUBAR before, looks like new now. Havent had a chance to play the record yet, i'm giging out tonight and didnt want to have to setup and break down. I will take the record with me tonight and play it. Will keep you guys posted
