WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Wal-Mart Stores Inc. officials are reviewing security tapes to try to determine who used a southern New Jersey store's public-address system to tell "all black people" to leave.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday at the Washington Township store, a male voice calmly announced: "Attention Wal-Mart customers: All black people leave the store now."

Witnesses say customers and store employees looked stunned. Management later apologized.

Company spokeswoman Ashley Hardie says the incident was "unacceptable." The retailer is looking to prevent it from happening in the future.

Washington Township police and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office also are investigating.

South of I195 doesn't count as Jersey. Gloucester County is Pine Barrens territory. Makes WVA mountain folk look like city slickers...

still funny though... I'm not racist... but I do think thats prob the fastest way to get a lot of people mad real fast... I'd love to see the reactions of everyone... If they were in the south i bet it would start a riot.

what kinda bugs me is all the people bein interviewed are like "im boycotting walmart this is ridiculous im never shopping there again".......1st off ya the fuck you are cause your gonna get sick of paying nonwalmart retail price and having to go to 5 different stores to get everything 2nd anyone with half a brain can tell this was some jackas using one of those phones they have all over the place, i really dont think this was an officially sanctioned walmart procudure

A twist on the story would be that there was a fire and the employees wanted to make EXTRA sure there were no african american casulties

Imagine the loss Wal-Mart would take if they only allowed one race to shop there...
djaction 6:08 PM 18 March 2010
um did you not read your own article?

Southern Jersey IS the south man.. there is barely running water, electricity, education or indoor plumbing in southern jersey. It's basically the entire "South" squeezed into a small section of New Jersey.

I'm saying the article says its South Jersey.. south Jersey isn't really New Jersey or the North
Dj-M.Bezzle 6:24 PM 18 March 2010
if its north of the mason dixy line its not "the south"
Dj-M.Bezzle 6:24 PM 18 March 2010
and yes south jersey IS a part of the state of New Jersey
djaction 6:25 PM 18 March 2010
no.. its part of the U.S. Constitution.. South Jersey is part of the "South".. NJ forced its secession a long time ago.
