Are you using an external HD?
Do you store musi c on both the internal HD and the external HD?
What are the specs on your computer?

Storing music on both your internal and external is most likely the cause. We always recommend keeping everything in one location. Complications can arise when you have music from the internal and external in the same crate.
Do make sure to properly eject your external HD everytime. That is also something that can cause crate disorder or for them to be sent to the trash.

Yeah but what happens if the external fails or accidentally gets unplugged ...then your stuck with no music

I keep my music internally, luckily I don't take requests, I play what I want and therefore don't need massive amounts of music.
In your case, keep an emergancy folder on your internal HD. Don't actually import it into the library but if crap hits the fan, you can open the files tab and play them from there.

I hear you on the no request thing ...but I have to keep a large library because I do many different gigs. So basically there is no way around rearranging my crates everytime right??

The way around that would be to consolidate all of your music anf info onto one HD. Once you do that, these problems should go away.
